Program Manager (Former Employee) – local office – August 23, 2019
When I started at Rise Against Hunger (formally Stop Hunger Now) the culture was vibrant, impact driven, and you were encouraged to experiment and try new ways to succeed. Over the past year and a half that culture has been changing into a culture of "get the money" Job satisfaction is low. Staff attitudes are suffering.
Amazing cause, doing good
long hours, focus is more on get the money than enrich lives of all participants
Community Engagement Manager (Current Employee) – United States – May 6, 2017
Challenges to break through organizational culture to make innovative changes. Disconnect between headquarters and branches. Working in the community engagement department is very physical and burnout is common. Pros and cons just like any other job.
Great mission, opportunities for advancement, benefits package
Work nights and weekends, unpredictable schedule, lots of physical work, low pay
