Overworked
Shuttle Driver/ Buyoff (Current Employee) –  Blue Mountain, MSApril 25, 2018
I did shuttle and buyoff always changing the rules and team leads well that is a joke. I only worked good with three team leads one of the team could the managers to jump and they would say how high you want us to jump. Pay is horrible .20 for a year it’s sad. Oh and don’t miss a day sick or not they will write you up for no reason.
Cons
Team leads are a joke, no one cares about you all they care about is themselves their is no team.

Not a bad start if your fresh out of High School looking for money
Switchman/Operator (Former Employee) –  Decatur, ILApril 16, 2018
From rumors maybe this company use to be okay for career advancement. From what I've seen unless you came from the railroad (CSX) your not going to be anything but a number to replace forever. Whatever money you get when you hire, don't expect too much more than that. If you want a career this isn't it, go to the main line. If you just need a temporary job to get by until you find better go ahead and sign up. The only thing this company cares about anymore is keeping a (fake) good name, and keeping those big dollars in the head bosses pockets. They don't care about the employees who help keep the company going. I will never go back or recommend anyone close to me to accept a job position for this company. Management is poor, no managers last long, turnover rates are TERRIBLE, and teamwork is not applied. Its a company that preaches safety but doesn't care about safety unless it effects there pockets. This job is for kids looking to save money until they figure out what they REALLY want to do in life. Corman is a joke, they should just retire the company just like there outdated equiptment.
Pros
No experience needed to hire
Cons
Managment, Money, Poor treatment, no pride, will hire ANYONE

Typical day would consisted of a normal 8 hour shift. once your at home with your family there is a 75% chance you will be called back into work. Or you will be called back into work in the middle of the night with a 30 minute notice. Also you cannot go outside of a 20 mile radius of your home because you can get called out at any time.
Pros

Group Member (Current Employee) –  Nicholasville, KYJanuary 25, 2018
New CEO is just hiring all of his buddies from Big A Solutions. Budget, new positions, termination arrangements made to hire these individuals.
No opportunity for advancement due to budget limitations.
The Corman family is very nice and work culture with exception of CEO's goals are great.

Management was lacking to say the least.
Equipment Operator (Former Employee) –  Kansas City, KSJanuary 1, 2018
On call 24/7. Management does not care about what is happening in your personal life. They just want the job done regardless of what may be affecting your personal life. PTO is taken away at a whim. When they finally figure out you can run the equipment you said you could and gain some trust in you. You will be on the road for months on end. No work life balance at all. I worked in the Kansas City location and were severely understaffed and always will be with the way they treat the employees.
Pros
Fun and interesting work, great 401k
Cons
No time at home and terrible management

Conductor/Switchman (Former Employee) –  Memphis, TNJanuary 1, 2018
Had no idea where I was going to work from day to day or how long. Wouldn't know what time I would be going to work until the last minute. The weeks we did work overtime it was all paid as straight time. I enjoyed the guys I worked with for the most part. The equipment was old as all get out. Pretty much as low of a class short line railroad you could work for.
