Good pay, bad management
Retail Merchandiser (Current Employee) –  Las Vegas, NVJanuary 12, 2019
When there's work, it's a good way to make some money without needing special skills to get the job done
Communication from superiors is minimal, you need to harass higher ups till they give you more work opportunities.
No way to move up besides brown-nosing your team lead and even then there's no guarantee.
Alot of co-workers with minimal training or understanding of what we do, and supervisors don't explain how to do things or who exactly to ask for assistance.
Pros
Decent pay, minimal skillset required
Cons
Low level thinkers, no advancement, inconsistent work schedule

Merchandiser (Current Employee) –  Seattle, WADecember 13, 2018
RMSI is a great company to work for if you like working graveyard shifts and if you like lifting heavy products. We do a lot of movement with products and a lot of organizing products by vendor. We have to make sure all products are put in the right place and labled correctly
Pros
Super laidback
Cons
Not enough people on the team so we struggle with finishing on time

They basically just use you and out the door you go. No room for advancement. It's an ok job and the pay is decent but if your not willing to travel your out of there. Not a friendly environment.

A lot has changed
Project Manager/Field Supervisor (Former Employee) –  VariousNovember 16, 2018
RMSI was once a very reputable company and great place to work. They promoted from within and listened to suggestions by their employees. Managers were given the proper tools to make business decisions. Employees were encouraged and rewarded for observations and business suggestions. Once it was taken over by a new entity though things quickly changed. The hardest part of the job is finding a work/life balance that appeases you and upper management. The most enjoyable part of the job was tackling new projects and making them a success.
Pros
Health insurance
Cons
Micro managed by new management, no work/life balance

If you can manage to deal with management and get through that, you’ll enjoy it. Especially if you have no desire to advance
Merchandising Remodeler (Former Employee) –  Seaford, DENovember 15, 2018
If you can manage to deal with management and get through that, you’ll enjoy it. Especially if you have no desire to advance. You have no personal life. You’re constantly on the road which is great for single, non parent people.
Pros
Pay is decent and if you stay long enough you’ll receive benefits

Retail Merchandising Specialist (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CANovember 15, 2018
Job was great management very unprofessional they broke code of confidentiality by discussing my employment with former employees. Management did not record hours like policy requires. We never were asked to formally sign out of work like other locations instead our lead would fill in our hours for us.
Pros
Easy work great work environment
Cons
Lack of communication. Discussed my personal business with other employees

Its not bad, but really inconsistent
Retail Merchandiser (Current Employee) –  Spokane, WANovember 13, 2018
I really don't want to leave RMSI, but the work hours just are not there. The job can be hard for some people as the pace is fast, and you have to set areas in a store in a timely manner. So its a mixture of mental and physical work.
Personally since I'm always busy the job feels like it goes fast. The hardest part is adjusting to night work as it messes up my sleep schedule.
Pros
Always something to do
Cons
Messes with your sleep schedule

Job hours are not family friendly. Long hours, communication between stores and management and their teams need serious improvement. If you are a single parent this is not a friendly fit.

Not what I expected
Reset specialist (Former Employee) –  New JerseyOctober 3, 2018
I have a lot of experience in resets and was just dumbfounded by the lack of communication between the client a major grocer and RMSI as far as knowing when the team was arriving and the fact that the planograms were almost always incorrect and either were reprinted at the time of arrival or during a reset where upon you had to redo the set it was just aggravating
They hire persons with little or no experience so you need to train them as the leads have other things to do, you have to clean filthy shelves and the stores really don’t have adequate packing supplies so if need be carts are used instead
There are no benefits no sick days nor vacation days
Pros
3 breaks
Cons
No benefits lack of communication working conditions salary no overtime

Fast paced work with not enough time to do it properly.
Wave Merchandiser (Current Employee) –  ColoradoSeptember 10, 2018
No real training. No advancement. Cut throat for any one who they feel is a threat or doesnt go along with clickish people on the team. Hours allotted to do work is divided by the number of employees on team. Write ups for employees are sent via email and not face to face so if you dont read your email on a daily basis you arent aware and there for never corrected (goes back to training new hires) and so employee evaluations are pretty much kept secret until you are fired or let go. The biggest problem with the work is the lack of proper training on company basics for the stores required standards for re sets.
Pros
Work goes by fast
Cons
No training, no room for advancement or pay raises, work hours are not steady throughout the year and that is not communicated to new hires.

Team Leader (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXAugust 30, 2018
I did a few years with this company. I can't say enough negative about the management here. They run the place not on merit but favoritism. If you are part of the "in" crowd it doesn't matter how terribly inept you are. They look down on and hold down real talent. This just a situation everyone should steer clear of.
Pros
Work
Cons
Poor management and lack of advancement
