FOH management seems to be a bit over professional..BOH employees is the exact opposite, lacks leadership and professionalism, on another note food is good and wine is tip top

I've worked in the company for 6 months. I started as a server and now I'm a supervisor. I have learned a lot about the world of wine and specifically about American Viticultural Areas. Every month we visit a different winery and I love that I have the opportunity to try different labels every week. Great place to work. Chill environment and great people.

Rootstock is a tip pool house with little to no business in the morning and afternoon and the majority taking place in the evening though the tips are still pooled evenly despite such a disparity in sales. Evenings tend to be chaotic with little direction. When servers are cut or sent to break, generally it isn't communicated amongst the rest of the team so often times guests are left to fend for themselves. Prepare to be unnecessarily busy bc you're over staffed but there is no direction from managers and often times no set sections. You're expected to learn, research about wine, and share at monthly meetings though you are not compensated for the time spent researching wine. A very grade school attempt at wine knowledge sharing. The rules differ nightly depending on the manager's mood or supervisor working the shift. Sometimes it's a dry house while other nights you're welcome to imbibe. Few standards and accountability. Anarchy at it's finest, a great place to work if you simply don't care.

There is drinking on the job and lack of Management. Employees are not hired based on quality but based on who knows who. Nobody really cares to make an effort knowing that tips are pooled for everyone that worked that day. Opener may have zero to 2 tables but take home half of what was tipped that day because they were scheduled 6 hours (11-5). A great starter for learning wine but I suggest moving on quickly.

My Job consisted of helping guest select wines they might enjoy with their meals, mostly night shifts. Fast paced work environment, great coworkers and great wine
