Unless you work in the office or upper management, you do not get to schedule your own vacation. People who have been there long enough get more weeks than others but still have to get those hours approved before taking days off thinkng they are going to call it a vacation day. The plant has shut down two times a year (one week in March and 1-2 weeks in June).
As for days off, they give you so many days for tardies and occurrences that are unpaid and takes 6 months to gain back. Tardies mean you can work 5 hours (or half your scheduled shift) coming in late or leaving early and occurrences mean you can take the whole day off. After so many of each taken, you could receive write-ups. And once again, these days are unpaid!
