The management and leadership staff require units to do more and more audits and checklists and charting but don't give you any help like when you need a patient sitter or they leave you short staffed on the unit. So then they complain and wonder why are there more falls, why are there more pressure injuries, etc, well it's because you take our time away from the patient so we can spend it all charting and doing unnecessary paperwork and documentation. The management says they appreciate you but don't show it or if they do it is with pathetic little gifts. But the hospital does nice things like hospital week and other little celebrations.

The turn over rate is ridiculously high.Non of the top boss care about you and once they hear you are going back to school you become a Target with a red mark
Volunteer in New Brunswick, NJ

Very little work for the volunteers in the Emergency Department. A lot of time spent just standing around waiting for a call bell or a bed in need of cleaning. Good experience at times but largely uneventful.

The department I work in is very kind and works with you, not against you! The scheduling and patient load is fair. The pto is generous and so is the pay. The benefits are amazing as well.
RN Staff Nurse in Livingston, NJ
on July 10, 2021
I started as a new nurse and the saying "nurses eat their young's was true in the unit I worked in. The senior nurse made my life miserable as a trainee and everyone followed her lead. I ended up resigning and working elsewhere. The nurse educator new about this and was supportive, but there was only so much she could do. The company was great though.
