Safeway careers and employment

I would pay people a better wage . What they pay people at Safeway is not a livable wage. I would make unloading the freight and restocking the shelves much more organized and not have so many people doing it . Many times there was so many people working we were bumping into each other. Things could be much better and easier. I would also offer people a benifits package right away at least health care if they didn’t have it . I would give all the employees a uniform to wear instead of having them but there own clothing. I would have the schedule online somewhere on an app instead of hanging on the wall on paper. I would give the employees more training. The training is really poor . Most of the stuff you figure out on your own. Safeway is a great company but needs a change. I would make it so all employees are in the same union . Not several the warehouse and truck drivers are under one and the store employees under another . That way if someone wants to go from the store to the trucks it could be a much smoother transition and the time they work at the store transfers over to the next job. Also I would have all the stores in certain areas under the same Union local so when you transfer stores your vacation and everything comes with you. I heard when you moved stores you loose your vacation and everything you earned from the other store that’s not right .

I waited two hours for my interview from the time it was scheduled til I actually went in the back. The only reason I waited was because I was told I had the job. And I did get hired. But two hours!!!

The health coverage is the worst one. Premiums has gone up so much that Safeway employees can not effort it. They just don’t pay them . As result it ruins their credit. As a result; we don’t qualify for buying a home or to get a refi. The good old days are gone,
