Salal was a great organization to work for. For me the total experience was priceless.
Facilities Manager (Former Employee) – Seattle, WA – August 6, 2018
For me, every day was different and always full of new challenges request. I dearly enjoyed the ability to function with my department independently and with all of the support we received from management and staff. I am forever grateful to the senior management team for all of their excellent leadership and growing the credit union to new heights.
When I was first hired on at the credit union I was well trained and prepared for my job. However, after 26 years with the credit union, the growth of knowledge, experience and the life change in my life is insurmountable.
I've had the opportunity of working and providing services to so many great coworkers and credit union members. I've been a part of helping the credit union moving from organizational computerization in its infancy to current day state of the art equipment, took part in every facet of buying, building out and furnishing a new adminstrative center. I've engaged in leasing and renting properties, branch remodels, department upgrades, preparing annual budgets for major projects, for maintenance and repairs, office supplies and logistics, mail processing, and grounds maintenance.
In my department I was given the autonomy to get thing done. Over the years I had a no none non sense staff who simply knew how to priortize with little or no supervision. We had an excellent group of outside vendors who would respond to needs on a moments notice.
For all of the above I give kudo's to Salal Credit Union!
Underwriter (Former Employee) – Dexter – March 7, 2018
I absolutely loved working here. The people were wonderful but low pay and awful commute. I worked with branches as well as outside vendors. Upper management was awesome. They treat everyone fairly with huge respect.
Business Services Assistant (Current Employee) – Seattle, WA – October 11, 2017
Everyone here is incredibly supportive. It doesn't matter if you are working within your department, or are seeking advice from an adjacent department. The Core Values are hard at work, and I've never felt judged.
Virtual Branch Representative (Former Employee) – Seattle, WA – May 3, 2017
I really enjoyed working at Salal, and I'd be grateful to work there again. The only downside of working there is the location. It's located on South Lake Union and there is no parking. The commute was TERRIBLE. I felt like a valued employee rather than just a warm body in a chair answering the phone.
Personal Financial Representative (Current Employee) – Seattle, WA – April 16, 2014
Great products but negative experience as an employee. The credit union in itself is awesome. The underwriters are my favorite, because they are always responsive and willing to help which means the members reap the benefits.
Room for improvement: Management style and how the credit union manages each of their employees to be successful and to help build the business.
SR PERSONAL FINANCIAL REPRESENTATIVE (Former Employee) – Seattle, WA – November 6, 2013
My primary duties involved initiating and processing loans such as mortgages, auto loans, home equities, personal loans and lines of credit and credit cards. I also opened new accounts from personal accounts, trusts accounts, business accounts, estate accounts and IRA accounts. I had various side duties which included running teller transactions, processing loan and new account paperwork and helping out with various daily activities when needed throughout the day. Working for a smaller Credit Union taught me many of the in and outs about being a banker beyond what I learned working at the larger banks, as you are part of the whole process of getting your daily banker duties to reach finality as there is not much of a back office to help. Which in turn could of been the one of the most demanding but rewarding things about the job.
Great benefits paid in full by the company.
The retire plan could have been more robust, but not terrible.
