Staff Nurse, Critical Care (Former Employee) – Benton, AR 72015 – November 25, 2018
The company has undergone changes since I left. The transition under a previous CEO and CNO was difficult for staff. At the time I worked for them they had a lot of employees that had worked there for years, but that changed at the time I also left.
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) – Benton, AR – September 13, 2018
This was a great facility, but has gone corporate. It is still a good facility to work for. The mindset has just shifted a bit as expected when any facility goes corporate. Decreased staffing has made patient care slightly more difficult.
Housekeeper (Former Employee) – Benton, AR – September 10, 2018
I have a passion for cleaning. Its peaceful and it make your day go by easier and faster. Cleaning is a peaceful career anyone would be able to do, but have to be able to know the different chemicals and what to clean with and the hazards, etc.

SMH is a VERY unstable company. They are only concerned with the nursing staff. ALL other employees are treated like sub standard humans. The management at SMH is horrible. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at any time. They do not take care of the equipment/stock or make sure the necessary equipment/stock is available to do your job and then blame the employee for not being able to perform their duties. The hospital is constantly at a point of bankruptcy. They've gone years with no raises yet offer HUGE sign on bonuses and laptops and other "gifts" to nurses to try and get them to work there. They do not treat their employees fairly or the same. One person can get in trouble for doing something minor and either get fired or almost get fired while another employee can do the same or worse and they are just written up. The services offered at SMH are horrible. The hospital can not do all the things they advertise they can do. Most patients are sent out to other hospitals for procedures that should be able to be treated at SMH. The nursing staff as a whole is extremely rude to everyone, including patients. The doctors either don't want to or don't know how to treat a patient. There are plenty of people that work there who are wonderful and do a fantastic job but those people are usually looked over and hardly recognized for their hard work. I would HIGHLY recommend that if you are looking to join a hospital environment, you keep looking!!
Work as staff Emergency Department (Former Employee) – Benton, AR – July 31, 2018
Great manager. Pay was not enough to sustain my bills. Great staff team work, relaxed work environment. Good learning environment. Lots of collaboration and team work. Night shift tomorrow as much better than day shift in my opinion
Registration Clerk (Former Employee) – Benton, AR – May 9, 2018
Management was not that great. Departments did not seem to communicate with each other. Coworkers were constantly showing up late and not even doing the minimum required, but were not reprimanded. Told I had to be at work even though I was sick and vomiting.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) (Former Employee) – Benton, AR – April 17, 2018
The hospital was recently bought by another company and it has gone down hill since. the PTs don't get taken care of because the floor staff has way to many people to care for. the nurses normally have 7 Pts to care for and the PCTs can have up to 27. the new manager is terrible. they pay ok but the only thing that makes it almost worth working there is the other floor staff.
Co-Worked orientated atmosphere; Great place to work!!
Paramedic Shift Supervisor (Current Employee) – Benton, AR – February 16, 2018
Saline Memorial has great co-workers interactions; as a hospital based ambulance service this gives EMS crews the ability to learn and provide more care to their patients instead of being limited to transferring patient care in the ED. There are several new programs and innovations within the hospital that makes Saline Memorial a major asset to Saline county and better serve the patients and citizens of the area.
Medical Technologist (Current Employee) – Benton, AR – January 10, 2018
If you are looking for a job in a community that is close-knit and evolving/growing, Saline Memorial is the place for you. I enjoy it because it feels like home. The majority of the staff are easy to get along with and the workflow is steady (most days).
LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) (Former Employee) – Benton, AR – December 5, 2017
Working here was enjoyable, most of other employees were friendly, eager to assist others and ready to answer any questions about the daily responsiblties, routines. Good interaction and cooperation with "sister unit", able to change work areas as needed. Usually "laid back" atmosphere, but always on alert for incidents/interactions between Pts./staff, Pt/Pt. Atmosphere is "family-like".
good working enviroment/ interactions between staff
Patient Care Technician (Current Employee) – Benton, AR – October 17, 2017
Too much drama amongst staff, it's like a high school clique. That being said I really love some of my coworkers, and I can handle most nights. And the House supervisor on week nights is awesome to work with. Nurses will only pass meds and chart, everything else is expected to be done by the PCTs Too much work for such terrible pay. Day shift PCTs make $9/hr (barely above minimum wage for some very dirty work and rude staff) Night shift PCTS get 20% more so $11/hr, but also have to do the work of a secretary since there isn't one on nights. Also you are not allowed to be on your phone (even though you're an adult) and you're there 12 hours. You get one 30 minute break, and (not garunteed) 2 -15 minute breaks, unless you're a smoker, then you get more breaks than hours spent actually working.
Most coworkers, always can pick up extra hours
Pay, too much work, bossy staff, treated like a child, breaks
