Decent Place to Work

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Needing to check your schedule every day to see if there were any changes isn't great, but the work was honest and the pay was decent. People in each department are fairly friendly, and supervisors are easy to get along with. Management needs to be better at setting schedules and working with their employees, but it's not terrible.

Still walmart

Place was a joke. Management was a revolving door. Raises were weak, measly $0.10 after a year of doing 2+ people's job. That's th Walmart way, do more with less. Management refused to hire more help for us and lied to us saying this is the way all the clubs are until one day we took a field trip to another store.

Pros

Its a paycheck

Cons

Everything that comes with walmart.

Team/Family environment

All employees are more than willing to teach, train, and help. Employees treat each other like family. The workload is shared including management. Great place to work with advancement opportunities and good pay/benefits.

Pros

Excellent pay, advancement opportunities, family atmosphere, management cares about employees

Cons

Customers, short breaks

Will blame you for work that wasn't done on an off day.

This place does have good staring pay and benefits for full-time associates. However, the management is awful. Getting blamed for work that was not completed by you on your day off when the work arrived the night before. On top of the complete unethical practice of the club to only encourage you to file for missing merchandise instead of the overages as well (like you are supposed to). Was rehired with the intent to make me a fresh lead to replace the old one who was planning on leaving, only to have that lead back out last second and be denied the near $6 raise for the position while still taking on over half of his responsibilities. Overall, if you are a good worker I would look for other places. If you are a mediocre worker you will be praised for showing 75% effort while those who give 100% are told to cover you slack and take all the backlash.

Horrible Management

The worst management I’ve ever worked for. Highly unprofessional. I worked in membership services and they heavily pushed credit card sales and upgrades by any means necessary… The managers wanted you to mislead the perks/benefits of the credit cards and membership so the store would get a bonus. The management talked to employees and members disrespectfully. Can’t speak for other Sam’s clubs, but the Tallahassee location is awful. No wonder they have such a high turnover rate!

Pros

$15 an hour

Cons

Favoritism

High turnover in every department because if they don’t like you, they will push you out, hence why they are always hiring. This club is ran on favoritism. Not all clubs are like this. Two of the management are best friends so what they say goes. This place is a trap- it pays well & benefits are good, and that’s about the only thing it’s got going for it. Very unethical management, they don’t care about anyone but them selves and treating others poorly.Front end people are miserable they are forced to sell plus/credit, if not they will be fired. Membership desk deals with all the rude people. Front end management sits around, floor management rides around on a forklift while their team works hard stocking, the fresh depts are forced to meet high demands of production, there is always 5+ call ins a day, cause people are miserable here. I would recommend working at Sam’s club, but not this one as the new management is going to run it into the ground.

Cashiering

Sams club isn’t a bad place to work overall. Being a cashier is pretty easy at the warehouse, but you will feel pressured to upgrade members to a plus membership or try to get them to signup for a credit card. They have great benefits for the full time employees. The starting pay for cashiers are now $15 which isn’t bad. I’ve worked at two Sams club and management isn’t so great. The only thing they care about are numbers.

Pros

Protected pto if you need to call out, benefits

Cons

Shout lunches, hard to get tome off if needed, feel pressured to upgrade members to plus membership

It’s just retail tbh

Sams Club is a decent place to work at. There is always something to do everyday and some days you can be sent somewhere else to help out other departments. Benefits are good not great but it’s good enough. Pto accumulates based on time there. Schedule varies.

Management no good

The managers don’t help you succeed only their picks. You get no time to be with your family. Peak season comes around you are going to do more than 10 hours a day. We worked 6 days a week with only 1 day off due to so many orders coming in around the holidays. The pay is very good but the hours & the work you have to do. You must reach a daily goal when it comes to numbers & if you don’t have your numbers all up to a certain amount by the end of the week that’s a point & points get you fired after so many you’ve accumulated

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Short breaks no family time

Terrible Management, Worse Customers

First thing, if you're in College, do not work here, the pay is enticing but they will not let you do school over work, no matter what hours you request nothing is promised or fulfilled, the Management is so bad, none of them are capable of anything besides bossing people around, the customers are some of the most entitled people i've ever had to serve. at this job i learned, you need to keep happiness in mind and put yourself first, learn to leave a job you hate, even if they pay you double minimum. The only enjoyable thing was the coworkers, they were all good people we could talk to about how bad our days were, because nobody had a good one, ever.

Pros

the Pay is the only good thing about this job

Cons

Short to NO breaks, Replaceable, A lack of empathy from any and all managers, anything bad you can think of

Fast paced, easy workplace.

I use to work for the Merrillville IN location. The management absolutely SUCKS. They’re for the members, they do not care about their employees at all. Jobs are being held over employees heads all the time, they’re very inconsiderate, they over work, and take advantage of their employees. Beside that, the pay is good though in my opinion. VERY fast paced work environment.

Pros

15 min breaks, free lunches, good pay, benefits, 30 min lunch break.

Cons

Management.

Easy job but management causes most issues for work

The jobs can be pretty easy but managers are switched out often and dont know how to do most things at times or can't help you out when you need a situation fixed well.

Pros

Easy job. Good hours. Good pay

Cons

Strict on breaks, tend to play favorites with employees

Hard work

loved my job. But was constantly under staffed. It made the job exhausting. when it was staffed correctly it was a great job. The management were great people. Very caring. But never enough staffing it made for longer than necessary day. You had to stay til all cleaning was done. Which could be 2 hrs of overtime.

Pros

Great benefits

Cons

Understaffing.

Save yourself

It was absolutely the worst job I have ever had. I worked there for over 6 years. No room for advance. Took our raises, sick pay, holiday pay! Union busting place that threatens its employees daily!

It's work, hard but work.

Something to do to pay the bills. Could be better and could be worse. Really depends on the club I guess. Always more to do and sucks it's a college town so hiring always fluctuates.

full-time job with part time "benefits"

Worked here in 2018 at the cafe, wasn't paid enough for all the work you have to do there. Get hired as part time but work like full time w/o benefits. As part time, you get stuck with the worst hours because they already Ava their full time people as set schedules which sucks because most of their positions are hired as part time just so you'll work hard for them but get no benefits

Pros

free lunch

Cons

schedule, pay, overworked
