Absolutley love SAM, LLC.
Help Desk Technician (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXJune 13, 2019
I started as an IT intern at SAM, LLC and upon graduating college, I was promoted to full-time. Working in the IT department was challenging and rewarding. The atmosphere was very friendly and familial. I felt very respected as an employee through the department and through the company as a whole. SAM, LLC and companies care about their employees and provide a safe and healthy work environment. I'd recommend SAM to anyone and would jump at any opportunity to work with them again
Pros
Healthy work life balance, amazing management, great job culture, friendly environment

Great place to work
Survey Technician (Current Employee) –  Austin, TXDecember 30, 2018
Very flexible with start/end times as work allows. They offer tuition reimbursement. If you're just looking for work, I'd search somewhere else, but if you're looking for work in the surveying field, this would be the place.

Opportunity to work plenty of hours
Crew Chief (Current Employee) –  Midland, TXDecember 23, 2018
A great place to work, for someone looking for a lot of hours, and plenty of overtime. Also, offer opportunity for travel to out of town jobs, with per diem.

Not What you think it's going to be.
Survey Party Chief (Former Employee) –  Littleton, CODecember 7, 2018
Was heavily recruited by a former PLS from a previous job. Was NOT told upfront that they only intended to use me for a single project. I was duped into believing I have full-time employment when that wasn't the case.
Colorado is a "right to fire" state so they made up some Reason and that was that.
Move along, this is not the company you're looking for.

Alright place if you like being treated unfairly.
Field Surveyor (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXMay 21, 2018
This place is okay at first but if you aren’t buddy buddy with the top brass you are screwed. The employees don’t help when you need them and expect perfection from new people. They love to play pranks and hide stuff. The place has gone down hill. If you have options other than to work here take it. HR is a joke and doesn’t do anything after repetitive reports.
Pros
Free lunch and benefits
Cons
Hours and pay on top of being treated like a dog or outcast.

Anonymous (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXMay 17, 2018
I worked at SAM for years and although I liked my coworkers the management team, HR too was atrocious. New leadership in place now isn't any better. Think twice about joining this company.

GIS Technician, Photogrammetry (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXJanuary 20, 2017
Lots of room to move up. Pay is on the lower end of the scale. Good benefits. Lots of TxDOT contract work, so work flow can slow down when economy slows.
Pros
Growth
Cons

Too many chief's. Indians get let-go.
Party chief (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXNovember 28, 2016
Moved to Austin for what was to be a great job. Found out that if you don't have family in upper management you are only a #. If you have family in management your job is to complain about your co-workers. You can make some $ if you keep your mouth shut but, it will only last a short time. Then you will understand why there is always an ad looking for new help. Don't make the same mistake I and so many others have made.
Pros
Good pay & great ben's.
Cons
Expected to work like a dog and treated the same.

You Have Better Options
Employee (Current Employee) –  Midland, TXAugust 19, 2016
Externally, the company would seem pretty buttoned up; internally, however, this place is a mess. HR has no clue--they have a double standard in that they tell you what you can't do, but turn around and break the rules they establish for everyone else. The Midland GM is close-minded and is untrustworthy. If you are in the surveying industry, you really do have better options than this broken organization.

Fun and comfortable environment
Senior Survey Tech (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXMarch 26, 2015
For the most part I enjoyed working at SAM, LLC. It was a very fast paced environment. Not much was provided in the way of training. If training was provided, it was secondary to the job. There was a lot of opportunities for advanced jobs, but not allowed to learn on company time such as OJT. Most co-workers were a pleasure to work with while others were more unapproachable if you did not have the knowledge that they had.

Field Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXDecember 18, 2014
Stay in the office...
I worked there as a field coordinator in the Dallas office. It was great. Only bad thing is: late night calls constantly.
Wish I would have stayed.....
Pros
Upper management is a plus.
Cons
Field employees treated not so good.

Terrible environment
Former employee (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXJune 27, 2013
Having to work in a very noisy cubicle farm where you cannot even hear yourself think and you are suppose to do accurate calculations this way? Disrespectful employees that don't care to teach someone new what they are suppose to do to accomplish a team effort. Childish behavior is the norm and the management, HR does little to try to correct this. Loud, tacky and unprofessional. Employees have hijacked this company! Sad.
Pros
Good pay.
Cons
Employee attitudes and poor management.
