Okay place to work.
Medical Assistant (Current Employee) - Kansas City, MO - October 1, 2023
Management not held accountable for their mistakes and don’t help out when help is needed on the floor. Rules don’t really apply to everyone. Unfair treatment. Long waiting time for patients. Incompetent MAs not being held accountable for their mistakes especially when mistakes are made on the patient.
Pros
Diverse company
Cons
Management

I loved my time at SURHC! My collaborative physician and other nurse practitioners were supportive and encouraging. The patients are the real blessing, you learn about other cultures and are deeply involved in their lives and their families.

Horrible place to work
Medical Assistant (Current Employee) - Kansas City, MO - June 27, 2021
The management picks and chooses their favorite people. The pay is definitely too low for the amount and type of work you are Expected to do there. The management is always forcing you to train people.
Pros
Hour lunches, flexible schedule
Cons
Always training people, understaff, overworked, not enough wages for the work

Poor management and treatment of staff
Lpn (Former Employee) - Kansas City, MO - June 19, 2020
I never felt respected there. Always negative responses to my questions or problems. Management plays favorites. I did enjoy my doctors and NP I worked for although I felt they were disrespected as well. The staff is underpaid for the amount of work they do. Understaffed.
Pros
Learned a lot from my NP. She is wonderful. My MA was very thorough and intelligent
Cons
Poor management

Hired for one dept. Then switched, then switched again. Never really knew where I'd be from one day to next. Favoritism played great deal w/Supervisor

Horrible Management
Anonymous (Current Employee) - Kansas City, MO - November 18, 2018
Stay away from this organization! Poor management. Cliquish and vengeful. Executive leadership unable to make tough decisions. When their mismanagement begins to show they blame others. Company is in poor financial shape due to inaction and limited knowledge of Executive Leadership Team. Ruining an organization that was developed to help the poor.
Pros
People who work there are dedicated to the mission
Cons
Too many to list.

Lead Medical Assistant/OBGYN (Former Employee) - Kansas City, MO - October 2, 2018
Of course all jobs reel you in and you're excited to start until management gets too comfortable and forgets they need you and need treat you accordingly. I'm not saying me personally, I'm referring to employees period. It takes a whole team to run an establishment, so regardless of your position, we're all people and should be treated as such.
Pros
patients, learning skills, 1 hour lunch
Cons
management, dusty stupid people

Proactive and constantly learning
Administrative Scheduler (Former Employee) - Kansas City, MO - August 5, 2018
We would schedule our patients and assist with inquiries about procedures done to be directed into the right nurse or provider. The training was excellent, not complex and very helpful for new comers. My favorite part of the position was to help the patients feel cared for and satisfied with the help we bring to them.

Poor management=poor culture
Full Time Employee (Current Employee) - Kansas City, MO - May 22, 2018
Management is very poor. There is no communication with staff. Management sits on the 3rd floor and makes all the decisions without including the actual staff that does the work with the patients. Lack of transparency. Very reactionary instead of being proactive.
Pros
Excellent staff
Cons
Management, communication and culture

A day a Samuel U Rodgers
Senior Billing Specialist (Current Employee) - Kansas City, MO - April 11, 2018
We current use Athena for our billing and it is a very complicated system. I come in and start with the denials that we have over 300.000 thousand of and work on getting them corrected and sent out before they become pass timely. The system ( Athena ) will only allow you to see encounters belled every 3 months. The culture is very family orated and we try very hard to take care of our patients. The hardest part of this job is making sure we get the encounters out on time and correct. The most enjoyable part is getting to know our patients. and working with my coworkers.
