Flexible company that let's you telecommute...
Data Analyst (Independent Contractor) (Former Employee) –  Houghton, MISeptember 10, 2018
I worked for SANS as an independent contractor. Hours were flexible and management was very accessible when project details were unclear. A great company if you are looking to telecommute and are in the field of data security. Management was a bit misleading when it came to making suggestions of employment duration and the likelihood as being hired as a full-time employee.
Pros
Telecommute
Cons
No future employment offer for independent contractors

Quality Control Tester (Former Employee) –  Bethesda, MDFebruary 1, 2018
SANS has a great work-life balance culture. A person is held accountable and that is good for everyone. The company deals with security and that is a hot topic. I enjoy reviewing the courses.

Instructor (Current Employee) –  World WideOctober 18, 2017
You will need a full-time job with some flexibility to succeed as an instructor at SANS. It may take years to advance from a basic instructor to Certified status where you can actually earn a living.
Pros
Best Security training around
Cons
Hard to break into the upper echelon

Not for the younger professions
Marketing Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILApril 11, 2017
The company itself is a little stuffy. You will be working with B2B and B2C uptight/security officials. Definitely ask questions about the type of culture they see themselves as. Upper management has communication issues during my time there but they overall seem supportive of the team.

IDS & Security Educational Instituation
Auditor, Course Material & Training (Former Employee) –  Bethesda, MDJune 24, 2013
SANS allows students to either have on-site classroom or On-Demand. Being around the computer industry for many years I have witnessed those that claim to deliver and those that do deliver. Each class I attended was taught by an instructor that had no less than 20 years in Government Security. In today's world you not only need the education, but gleaning from many years of applied concepts. Anyone that is serious about security on all levels, from personal to professional look them up.
Pros
Solid Trainers and Concepts
Cons
None, only limitations are yourself.

Exciting and busy day
Event Planner (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXNovember 19, 2012
A typical day was always something new. I learned to create a blueprint. Management was great. My coworkers were nice. The hardest part of my job was a lot of data entry. The most enjoyable part of the job was creating the blueprint.

great work environment
Software Support Specialist (Current Employee) –  Fredericksburg, VAAugust 28, 2012
The management is nothing but master degree holding individuals including harvard. The people at SANS are great for the most part. The work environment is excellent with the majority of folks working from home and the dress code at the offices being casual.

Hardest part of the job is the workload.

Most enjoyable part about the job is traveling and having your own laptop.
