Great place to get acquainted with finance industry, not great for advancement
Associate Technology Consultant (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 25, 2018
Sapient is definitely a great place to work as an entry level employee: you will get awesome opportunity to train in India for 3 months to learn fundamental knowledge of working in financial/tech industry, you will get exposure to multiple projects and companies in less than 2 years, and you will meet tons of talented, helpful people. Expect that your learning will be more breadth than depth based - that is, you will learn much about how to be a tech consultant across all aspects of the project development life cycle (requirements analysis and gathering, design, development, testing, support), but you may not necessarily become a "very good coder."

My biggest problem with the company is how hard it is for people to grow. Even if you are creating impact for client, working long hours, and being an all around great contributor, you will likely not get that raise or promotion that you've been expecting, the one that your manager says he's been "pulling teeth" to get for you.
Pros
Expand network, learn variety of skills, exposure to multiple projects and companies
Cons
Difficult to grow, lack of community culture

Manager, Program Management - Energy (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXMarch 14, 2018
The job that was described was not the job to do once the position was accepted. Bait and switch.I found the management lacking in direction and the pipeline of business was slim.

Senior Interactive Developer (Former Employee) –  Arlington, VADecember 22, 2017
Sapient Culture of collaboration and commitment to excellence was top notch. Unfortunately, it is a fast-paced environment that is not suited for everyone. I truly enjoyed working there I wished I could have had a better work/life balance for my projects.

Sapient Culture
Project Manager (Current Employee) –  Arlington, VANovember 1, 2017
Sapient culture is great. Very friendly and supportive and they always try to do something to celebrate the different groups of people working within the organization. Also have happy hours in the office and lots of free food! The project I was assigned was offsite and far away from Sapient so I never really felt as though I was part of Sapient. A lot of career advancement requires involvement in Sapient culture and activities. However, when you're assigned to work at the client site, it's quite difficult to get involved at Sapient

It was competitive at first, but then poor management made it too stressful.
Manager, User Experience (Former Employee) –  Miami, FLSeptember 13, 2017
While the people and the culture is great, and even though at first it was a very competitive and rewarding place to work, in the last 3 years poor management, bad personnel decisions and repeated mergers with other companies have turned it into a very stressful atmosphere where people who care have to work many extra hours and people who don't simply rely on those who do or are not afraid to blame others for their mediocre performance.

Worked there 10 years ago so I do not have anything valuable to offer about the company. Company culture/values/people can change drastically in a decade.

A great place to work for for self directed competitive people
Program Management (Former Employee) –  Boston, MAAugust 27, 2017
In the time I was at Sapient I was fortunate to have many opportunities and rarely ever told no when I had an idea. However, Sapient is not a place you go to be coddled. It's a great place for those who are interested in pushing themselves and not afraid to jump in. It is a competive environment full of "openness" people willing to give you feedback on most everything. If you are willing, there is great growth to be had from the feedback.
Pros
Great place to learn a lot of subject matter and learn a lot about yourself quickly
Cons
You can get lost if you are afraid to jump in and waiting for a lot of direction.

Operations Manager/ Purchasing Manager (Former Employee) –  Cambridge, MAAugust 21, 2017
An amazing company that provided a lot of valuable lessons learned over the years I was there. When I was there in the 90's, it was a fast paced, work-hard/play-hard environment which required a certain kind of mind-set and belief in oneself. It was not a place for the meek.
Pros
Healthcare, learning opportunities
Cons
Burn out was always a possibility
