Great staff, Great atmosphere, upper management is a mess
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) - Murray, UT - August 23, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedLoved working for Dania. Really hard to get ahold of upper management because there is a new person taking over regularly. The Point of Sales system is completely outdated but easy to learn

Negative environment. Unsupportive management/ownership.
Associate Buyer (Former Employee) - Petaluma, CA - September 27, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The people, if you’re lucky enough to have a good team. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Management never keeps you accountable, projects will go for months without being completed and ownership is completely insensitive What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Stressful - too much work and not enough pay or recognition

An Overmanaged Nightmare: My Experience at Dania
Puller/Loader (Current Employee) - DuPont, WA - September 11, 2023
Working at Dania has been an eye-opening experience, but not in the way one would hope. While I had high hopes for my job here, my time with the company has left me with a sour taste in my mouth. There are three key issues that make it difficult for me to give this job anything other than a negative review: excessive micromanagement, chronic understaffing, and a severe lack of communication from management. First and foremost, the level of micromanagement at Dania is suffocating. It feels like every move I make is scrutinized, from the moment I walk through the door until the moment I leave. While some level of oversight is expected and necessary in any workplace, the constant barrage of directives, nitpicking, and micro-managing at Dania is unbearable. It not only hampers productivity but also stifles creativity and job satisfaction. Furthermore, the overzealous micromanagement doesn't stop at monitoring our every move; it extends into unrealistic expectations and demands that often lead to working overtime. In an environment where employees are already stretched thin, being constantly bombarded with additional tasks and responsibilities is demoralizing. Instead of focusing on the quality of our work, we are forced into a never-ending cycle of firefighting and attempting to meet unattainable targets set by management. The second major issue is the chronic under-staffing at Dania. It seems like there is a perpetual shortage of employees to handle the workload. Whether it's due to poor hiring practices or simply not providing enough support, the result is the same: an overburdened -

Great Place to Start a New Career, with a Slight Catch ...😉
Facilities Coordinator (Current Employee) - Idaho - August 24, 2023
You have to be willing to do your job and follow policy. If you can do that, get along with others, and show up too work; there is plenty of room for advancement. They have fantastic benefits, better than most of the companies I have worked for in the past. They seem to appreciate their employees and have employee appreciation and engagement events with gifts and prizes, often. It seems like a big family to me; I plan on staying as long as I can!
Pros
Great benefits, Employee appreciation, Family like environment
Cons
Experiencing a growth spurt, it may seem a little overwhelming during these times.

Excellent learning experiences that I can take to my next job.
Accounts Payable Specialist (Former Employee) - Boise, Idaho - August 21, 2023
The typical day of work generally resulted in working hard and having fun. The best part of this job was being able to bring my hyper-efficient skills and focus to the next level. The working culture let me be myself and listened to my insights and ideas in areas that needed improvement. I felt included and valued while being able to work autonomously and as a team. The only reason I left my job was because I moved.
Pros
Work was challenging but rewarding, compensation met market for Boise area, food trucks were brought in, and birthdays were always celebrated.

Positive environment with good people who like to see others grow.
Asset Protection Associate (Current Employee) - Boise HQ - August 17, 2023
Working In the Asset Protection department for SD/DF has been enlightening and challenging in a positive way. I have been tasked with familiar and unfamiliar projects and have been given proper resources and effective mentor ship to complete them. The Safety and asset protection team is all about limiting liability and creating safe and accountable working environments and it's been awesome to learn how that is accomplished at a corporate level.
Pros
Full time and part time opportunities, Great Health Care and other benefits, Competitive pay
Cons
end of day commute home can be hectic due to downtown traffic.

Don’t ever expect a raise no matter how much time and effort you put in.
Warehouse associate (Former Employee) - Murray, UT - June 27, 2023
Working for this company is the worst choice if you are looking to better yourself. Scandinavian Designs loves making you do all the work and taking all the credit. You will be treated like a pawn, there is no where for you to expand. Once in a position don’t expect to grow from there. Everything is ran by an older demographic so change is less likely to occur then anywhere else. Corporate will fly out and pay for each others car rentals and hotels, yet they are always complaining about cost management. Leaving drivers stranded and making them pay for hotels out of pocket because it wasn’t taken care of prior. Management has fired people based on uncontrollable life problems, as they are unwilling to see you as a human being and not another cog in their machine.
Pros
Benefits
Cons
Corporate, raises, management

Be seen not heard do not laugh or talk

Overly managed, dead end!!
Warehouse/Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Denver, CO - June 17, 2023
This is not a good company to work for. They do not care about their employees. You do not get raises. The insurance they pay for is trash. We're micromanaged all day. DOT makes the job a thousand times more stressful. You're just a number to corporate. They force you to clock a lunch whether you take one or not. Considering the weight and fragility of the furniture, the furniture is grossly overpriced. They make you wait a year for your referral bonus. And nobody seen anybody get the referral bonus. They do offer a bonus but they use any and every excuse to take away from it.
Pros
When you get overtime you make the money you should be making anyway.
Cons
The company is trash in a hole, It's a completely dead-end job, DOT makes it worse, Your micromanaged all day, The money is not worth it

Fun workplace
Sales Manager (Former Employee) - Utah - May 15, 2023
This is a fun place to work but very unprofessional when it comes to upper management. Shows favoritism and was not promoted because I made the boss look bad. Meanwhile, they were still having me do the job I tried to get promoted to, but they wouldn’t promote me. I feel as if they did this to save money as well, at my expense. Other than that, they have fun products and fun employees. I did learn a lot, from other people in this company, though. Just don’t have super high hopes of going far, unless you’re in the cool kids club here.

Great pay and benefits poor upper management
Warehouse Associate (Current Employee) - Boise, ID - May 6, 2023
I love my work and what I do and I care for my teammates and my direct managers but upper managers like store managers and regional managers have no grasp of how we work together and what my job title entails and they would rather have us “look busy.” Than be efficient and quick about our tasks and it feels like legitimate concerns and or complaints fall in deaf ears at time other than that I love my job and what I do.

poor quality product
Administrator (Former Employee) - Colorado - April 17, 2023
The staff is nice and even the managers are kind. The furniture though is so poorly made that something like half of all purchases have an issue. The only way the company survives is that the stuff is so crazily marked up that the sales that don't get returned support the ones that do. You do the math. Corporate management is SUPER corporate and disconnected to what the reality is in the stores. There are a lot of meetings with words that don't mean anything and a lot of "yeah we're doing great aren't we? yes we we are awesome!" While the turnover is really high and employees DGAF.

Stay away from this company.
Sales Consultant (Former Employee) - San Rafael, CA - April 13, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Best part was quitting. The company is a mess internally. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? No sales support, no internal systems to support sales, no internal communication system. House of cards ready to collapse. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Cross your fingers and toes that your customer has no issue with product- learn a 40 year old software system (DOS) dont ask for help- it’s not available

Wages not equal across the region
Warehouse (Current Employee) - Colorado and Utah Region - April 7, 2023
Employees in the same region that do the same work are not paid the same. It is hard to compete with the cost of living. Do not receive yearly reviews or raises on your work performance.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Minimum PTO, Minimum paid holidays and uncompetitive pay

Motivated team with growing pains
Bookkeeper (Current Employee) - Boise, ID - April 7, 2023
The company has experienced a tremendous amount of growth in the last few years which has resulted in growing pains for all departments. Lots of changes can occur within a short timeframe, but that leaves plenty of opportunities to have a hand in making things work. The accounting department is full of motivated, team-oriented workers that are here to help each other succeed. Work-life balance is great for hourly employees. The legacy system can be difficult to learn and navigate at first.
