Good job inconsistent available work
Good job as long as work is available (Former Employee) - Nyc - April 21, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI enjoyed working here as a substitute I received many consistent positions. However as time went by the agency had only a few positions available and the work became unreliable.

Great schools and kind office workers terrible upper management
Substitute Teacher (Former Employee) - NYC - June 6, 2023
I’ve worked with them for about a year. They’re a very strict company which is understandable but prepare to feel like a work robot. They call you multiple times a day for assignments even if you’ve denied them. They call you during assignments… when don’t they have your schedule?? I’ve gotten chastised for not answering and chastised for answering during an assignment. (Sometimes they call you with urgent info) They can call and text and email you as they please. But they only accept communication via phone calls. Sometime schools will cancel assignments last minute (not school professionals fault,) but if god forbid you get sick or have an emergency. They’re condemning and condescending and will cut off your access to assignments which helps no one… not you… not the schools…. Not them? It’s silly. 0 sympathy as to why you maybe been late or absent And if you call them to let them know you’re running late… you’re chastised. No one wants to be late. No one wants to miss a check. They treat you like a teenager who’s just worked their first job. I had a family emergency and didn’t have access to my phone. Their response? Call your employer in the event of an emergency. Umm… how? No questions no sympathy. They don’t care about their subs at all, just about how we can serve them.
Pros
a good job for entry level, free lunch at certain schools, flexibility
Cons
No one goes over your benefits, Condescending management, impersonal, they call/email/text too much, you can only call them

Great recruiter/glowing resource for new teachers
Substitute Teacher K-12 (Current Employee) - Miami-Dade County, FL - April 20, 2023
Great place to work with awesome recruiters only need to work two days per month to stay active but there is work every day if you want it. Super flexible and there bonuses if you work every day. Two downsides one is the app sometimes is fussy but calling or texting your recruiter will always get you placed.Other down side is on the school side not the recruiting side. You never know what school admin. are trying to get away with, sometimes they will send you home and not tell you why, if sent home reimbursement does happen on some level just make sure any tattoos are covered some schools are strict about that, most are not. Just a suggestion but some companies are now paying by degree, as in 137 for associates 150 with bachelors 175 with masters and 200 with a teaching cert tract. Look out for those providers they are out there. I loved working there because it have me access to different types if teaching environments u til i found my ideal school. You are given a great opportunity to introduce yourself to both the student body and admin, and if its a good fit then go for it. Its a great temp to perm organization.
Pros
Sometimes free lunches
Cons
Long travel distances pay should be tiered by degree and cert

great opportunity to build relationships
Substitute Teacher (Current Employee) - New York, NY - January 23, 2023
Amazing place to work if you are trying to build relationships and plan on teaching full time. The pay is ok, but need to pick assignments wisely. Long term assignments aren't common but very rewarding when they do arise.

Depends on if you're ok with traveling
Teacher Assistant (Former Employee) - Brooklyn, NY - September 15, 2022
It worked for me until the pandemic, but I plan on returning. It's really dependent on your schedule. If you pick up an assignment you need to cancel by 5am that was my only con with me having a child

4 stars
Teaching Assistant (Former Employee) - 50 Avenue P - July 5, 2022
What is the best part of working at the company? The company is a third party that helps connect you to a DOE school. It is a good place to get your "foot in the door" so to speak, if you want to get into teaching or a related field What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The specific school I worked at was a NEST school. There is no training on how to handle certain situations. You go in blind and learn on the job. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The school that I worked at was a nice school, with friendly staff. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Morning arrival duties/ Late Arrival, floating through different classes helping the teachers, lunch duties, break, helping the teachers until dismissal and then busing duties

Jobs at School Professionals
Very flexible yet consistent work flow
Substitute Teacher (Former Employee) - Miami, FL - January 21, 2022
The nob had numerous opportunities for part time or full time. The daily pay rate was a good and bad thing. Some of the work seemed to deserve more pay while others assignments felt over paid.
Pros
All of the schools were very kind
Cons
Last minute calls to work

Dont reccomend
Subtitute Teacher (Current Employee) - New York, NY - November 17, 2021
Every advertisement I have seen about School Professionals says you get competitive pay and paid holidays. I am here to tell you this is false not once have I been paid for a holiday or had competitive pay unless you have a bachelors degree and even so you are only working for $10-15 dollars more a day only doing more work.
Pros
Free lunch depending on the site
Cons
Little pay, no paid holidays, no room for growth.

Great Company for Aspiring Educators
Substitute Teacher (Current Employee) - New York, NY - March 7, 2021
If you are an aspiring educator looking for experience, or if you are looking for a flexible side gig, I would recommend School Professionals without hesitation. Employees have FULL control of their schedule as long as they accept two assignments a month, and both short term and long term assignments are offered. A benefits program is offered to employees who work a certain amount of days. Pay is a little low for uncertified teachers, and you may have to travel a good amount for some assignments. But if you manage your expectations, your experience at SP will be entirely positive!
Pros
Pick the days you work, supportive management
Cons
Low Pay for Uncertified Teachers

Lack of diversity from location to location
Classroom Consultant (Current Employee) - New York, NY - December 11, 2020
The most difficult issue; being micro-managed by poorly trained and inexperienced individuals in positions of authority/power. Children and youth fun
Pros
pay scale
Cons
degree of travel required with no stipend for distance

Flexible substitute teaching work in various locations
Substitute Teacher (Current Employee) - New York, NY - April 15, 2020
Depending on background and skills ability you can be placed in various substitute positions from grades pre-K-12th. This job has given me the opportunity to work with various students in charter schools and private schools and become familiar with the students in the community and the learning approach at the schools. I am also able to interact with educators in the field. I love the flexibility of the job. The pay is not great.

This company is great if you are in transition in careers or looking for temporary work
Co-teacher, Lead teacher (Current Employee) - New York, NY - February 3, 2020
This company is great if you are in transition in careers or looking for temporary work. I love the fact that I can choose where and when I work. For the most part, all of the companies I have worked for wanted to keep me permanently.
