Good hospital to work at
Registered Nurse-Perioperative services-OR/PSCU (Current Employee) –  Lafayette, COJanuary 12, 2018
Provides a great population to work with
flexible hours
options to change nursing cultures

Currently in the PSCU department, presurgical area, getting patients ready for various surgical procedures. Start IVs, do blood tests as indicated, prep body as needed for surgery-total joint surgeries vs minor ortho procedures etc.

Quickly learned to be flexible with patient personalities and different fears they had regarding upcoming surgical procedure.

Hardest part of the job is balancing multiple patients. Most enjoyable part of the job is seeing patient's individual paths and outcomes after surgeries.
Pros
Great work culture with co workers and MDs
Cons
pay increases

Close to home but terrible management
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) –  Lafayette, COJuly 9, 2018
Management only care about themselves and they tend to just think their nurses are replaceable. They are always changing policies and making you work more weekends and holidays. You have to fight tooth and nail if you want more money. Coming in on alot of days off for committees and meeting. The communication is terrible.
Pros
Close to home
Cons
No work, life balance

Worst behaved, unethical dangerous individuals got thier way bc they were best friends, literally, with the director. So unprofessional
CACIII (Former Employee) –  Westminster, COJuly 3, 2018
Nurses would not do their own job, would not learn state outlined duties of other credentialed personnel . Complete controls freaks. No breaks for 12 hour shifts, always doing extra work while at least one nurse, usually with an attitude swiped on tinder. It was horrible. Some nurses were great, unfortunately a few bad apples did spoil the whole bunch. Management did not even know about clinical supervision for counselors, Head Dr. did not know what to do with a duty to warn situation. Never a manager or supervisor or decent coworker when you needed one. Scheduling-complete nightmare.
Pros
Many supportive employees from other units.
Cons
Bossy nurses, promotions to unqualified individuals, unqualified management

SCLHS has taught me more than what I learned in school. However it is a stressful place to work at. The culture here is so so.. Just depends on what day it is for most.

The coworkers and management at this location are excellent to work with. The pay scale for per diem workers is incredibly low with no per diem differential.

Patient Account Representative I- Commercial (Current Employee) –  Broomfield, COMay 9, 2018
Weekly productivity standards are high and quantity is enforced over quality. Little to no training on how to perform job duties and expected to learn job in six weeks before put onto productivity standards. Management is always in meeting and difficult to find when needed.
Pros
schedule flexibility
Cons
poor training

Some Good and Some Bad
System Office (Former Employee) –  Broomfield, COMay 9, 2018
A lot of knowledgeable and dedicated people work across the SCL System. The hospitals are consistently recognized by both local and national certification organizations. Patient satisfaction is above average.

VP level leadership tends to be misguided and years behind the learning and change curve required by the healthcare market-place. Senior Leadership pushes staff to be strategic but then does not recognize strategic ideas offered by middle-management.

Many system-level departments are in silo mode and often are working against each other rather than with each other. Promotion and success are more dependent on who you know than what you know and how well you perform.
Pros
Above average benefits, good incentives to get and stay healthy
Cons
It's not what you know; it's who, VPs lack knowledge and strategic abilities

MEDICAL OFFICE RECEPTIONIST (Current Employee) –  Kansas City, KSMay 9, 2018
Great fun typical day at Duchesne clinic. You learn new vocabulary every day (medical terminology). The hardest part of my job is saying no to the patients when we can't provide services due to their income but the most enjoyable part of my job is giving a great service to the most needed ones and seeing a smile when they walk out the clinic.

During my time with them they were merging with other facilities out of state so it was busy and fast past. I was also given a large raise as my job title changed.

Management of hospice program is poor
Medical Social Worker (Former Employee) –  Wheat Ridge, COMarch 27, 2018
There is no training and no support. Staff are left to figure out on their own. Thankfully I came with experience but still didn't know the system under which they operated. Computer issues all of the time. Nice staff to work with but everyone was overworked. SCL as a company is supportive and well organized but the hospice program needs major help.
Pros
inpatient hospice
Cons
lots of driving, no leadership

Technology Assistance Center Manger (Former Employee) –  Lakewood, COMarch 26, 2018
This was a great position but not a collaborative working environment, you had inter department skirmishes and a lot of disrespect between management and directors. The company as a whole was great I really enjoyed being able to support the co-workers and members of the company.
Pros
Able to use my skills to help others
Cons
No collaboration within senior management.
