cold, and hot, constantly active. fast paced. no time to get bored. need to be able to work efficiently independently, or as a team, and be able to switch tasks with ease.
something different every 20 minutes or so. not tied to a desk or machine. large shop, able to go for a long walk during regular duties the shop can be loud, but the company supplies earplugs, hardhat, boots, and gloves..
work hard, play hard. several company outings, free monthly luncheons. many opportunities to better yourself thru education and advancement
wild temperature variations, especially during winter months.
Foreman (Former Employee) – Franklin Park, IL – July 10, 2018
Great team atmosphere, truly one of a kind. Truly feels like brothers and sisters versus employees that you work with. If you want to move up the ranks in the company they will help you do so. Management still has some gaps between the floor and office workers but shows promise of improvement. The hours can take their toll on you if you have a family. But after you receive your pay check it makes it worth while.
Luncheons monthly, incentive checks bi-anually, company outings quarterly, etc.
Office Worker (Current Employee) – Spring Grove, IL – February 16, 2018
Scot Forge's culture is unlike those of typical manufacturing environment. This company is completely employee owned. The culture has a team and family feel to it. For those who take initiative for their work and career, holds themselves accountable and who want to have a direct impact to the business, this place would be a great opportunity.
Yes, for those employee owners, they do run lean as an organization and people will work over 40 hrs. However, they also have events they do with employees as well as with their family. Everyone is seen as an asset, not as a number.
Safety is a primary concern for Scot Forge and they are proactive about it. Honesty and integrity go hand in hand with the quality of product they present to their customers. Very customer focused company.
Would recommend to anyone who is seeking to have a career.

Scot Forge was an excellent place to work and provided me with experience in the electrical field that may have never come at other employers. I miss working there and given the opportunity,I would return as an employee owner.
Productive and efficient workplace with great workers.
Production Associate/Material Handler (Former Employee) – Spring Grove, IL – March 10, 2017
learned a lot with this company. Great pay and benefits. Worked a lot of overtime due to work loads. Workers there are great and willing to teach anyone anything, just have to be willing to learn and work. Management and work schedule need to be worked on. short notices for changes that are made. some days would have less then 24 hours notice. Hard to plan events and have not much of a life..
