Chaotic and stressful long hours

Chaotic and stressful long hoursManagement lives a lot when you first hired no raises you’ll never get the Holidaysoff of your new worker It goes by seniority the worst place I ever worked with the exception of one other place understand why series is a whole one under the culture just sucks

The good is training/ the bad is forcing you to sell

For the appliance service technician position they put you with a technician to train you for about a month then on the second month you still with a mentor but instead of him doing the work you will have to do the work for at which point the mentor you with will tell the managers if I’m improving or not, after that if you doing ok you get your own truck and tools 🛠 but the bad part is they force techs to sell warranty like crazy or sell extra service on other appliances if you don’t you can get a write up, even though you were able to fix the appliance, Sears don’t seem to care much about the repair side all they’re really care about is sales which I don’t like cause I’m no sales person so I quit before I get fired for not selling

You only get more pay if you sell sell sell,don’t care if you know how to repair appliance just sales

Never get yearly increase,beware of company,was good when I started in 1995 went down hill ever since,management is terrible,if you want to be a service techs there are. Ugh obetter company’s to work for

Sinking ship

A once great empire is now a shell of its former self. Sears is circling the drain, time is running out. Horrible management over many years and an owner who had no intent to run the Company has destroyed an American icon.

The union runs that place, it's all about seniority, and taking your union dues and doing nothing for you. Work hard all summer was the top technician as far as calls and was the first to be laid off because of seniority

All they think about is selling warranties.

The pay is ok but I was there 4 years and never got a raise. We come I'm as technicians and they add more unnecessary stress on the techs to sell warranties or get on a ppi(write up). Some of the managers talk to you like you're a child and not an adult. The job was stressful and they added on to the stress with all the rules and etc. I'm glad I quit.

Opportunity and Work Ethics

I worked for Sears in Ohio for nearly seven years. It was my first “real” job at about 19 years old. At the time the company taught us that customers were of extreme importance and we were to always make them happy. While some people took advantage of that, most didn’t and would return for the quality of goods and service that sears offered. I learned a lot there about taking pride in my work and doing a good job. Management was great and fair to everyone. I advanced there and truly enjoyed my work. I’d still be there today if I could’ve been made a full time employee. Instead, I’d be given 38-39 hours a week and during slow times of the year 25-30. Instead, I moved out of state for full time employment elsewhere. I’d have loved to retire from Sears. I loved my job.

No good place to work

This company doesn’t take care of technician. Just push tach beyond there limit. Poor and most expensive health insurance .No a good place to work to much stress. This company is st bankrupt I can’t advice someone to go there.Andthen this company doesn’t take care about technician. The only thing they need is money.

Road service tech

Wanted you to be 5 people at once. Salesman, truck driver, computer expert, repairman and be able to manage your truck stock but not allow you any control over what went in your truck. No pay raise in 3 years. Said it was do to my inability to complete calls but they had me driving all over the area and no proper parts on my truck to repair items. Always had to order so it would count against your productivity. Management would belittle you when your numbers weren't where they wanted them to be. Bad place to work.

If you arent a salesman you wont keep your job

You will be lied to and they have no interest in what you say. Ran by a bunch of salespeople who dont know their butt from their elbow when it comes to the job. Way too many job orders and no where near enough time to complete them. Your job will be threatened daily

Sears formed A and E service to continue ripping people off stay away from anyone or anything attached to sears. Even the sears exterior business is a sham. Run don’t walk from sears

It use to be a great company in the 70-80 but going out of bussnies then went bankrupt sold out our stock an poor manigemeny it was a great place know it nothing it a sad time when a name company locks it doors for ever

was furnished a service van and tools and uniforms and computer and phone to do the job

repaired customer appliances in home till tremors in hands forced me to take early retirement , repaired just about every mechanical or electronic appliance that they carried. when all electronic repairs were sent to Chattanooga , Tennessee I then repaired refrigerators and window air conditioners for 21 years

Everyone was great to work with.

All of the people at the store were great people. They were always around to help and lend a hand when it was needed. Everyone worked as a team and that was great.

It was great working on machines and helping people

I liked helping people with their problems. I got to be an independant worker. Got to meet new people and start up relationships. I worked with electromechanical devices and refrigerant suppplies.

Decent

Working at Sears was a great learning experience and learned a lot my short time there. Working on sealed systems and replacing compressors was great learning experience in my trade.

Its a ok place to be

It was a great place to work if you into fixing things. Your never in the same place every day. They keep you busy. You have to be on it. Focus on the task in front of you.

I just had a manager from down under My manager had me in the blistering cold in a van with no heat this winter. Going to work was like going to downunder
