Easy money, stressful environment, rude administration
Mental Health Technician (Former Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - October 18, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? My team and a few coworkers that was willing to work and not just be there. The ones that took their job serious and worked as a team. Also the opportunity to make overtime and pick up extra shifts if needed What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Working under staff daily mostly but the main issue is the new MHT supervisor. She is the worst person I have ever worked with in my 44 years of living. She does not know how to talk to her employees, very rude, micromanaging every one, talks to her staff as if she is better then everyone and constantly feel if it’s not her way it’s no way. The facility has lost slot of good people since she had started and it’s only getting worse What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The culture is pretty good, there’s really no bad vibes when it comes to the culture but as for the environment it can be stressful. Mainly the stress comes from coworkers not the patients What is a typical day like for you at the company? I make my day good, I’m not the type to walk around with a frown on my face. I believe in turning a bad situation into a good one.

At one time a great place to work
Staff (Current Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - August 19, 2023
This was once a great place to work. The new Administrator is horrible. Work culture is horrible. Administrator is a very unfair, has cooperate fooled. We are loosing good loyal workers due to the administrator. Allot of covering up, very sneaky under handed work is going on. Not understating the cooperate level, complaints are being done without ANY RESPONSE ! The so called executive team is none helpful, a group of leaders who don't even care each other.
Pros
Working with the other staff other than upper management
Cons
Management need to be replaced

Poor management and lack of value
Clinical Supervisor (Current Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - July 25, 2023
Seaside struggles with upper management and communicating with staff. Decisions are hastily made from people who do not understand the work required. Seaside continues to "nickel and dime" you for every little thing. You do not get any paid holidays. You have to use you own PTO in order to get paid for the holiday. So for example, on Christmas Day, you have to use your own PTO in order to receive payment even thought the office is closed. Workplace culture is poor. Moral low and upper management continues to make promises for change but the only change that occurs is change to poorly effects the staff.
Cons
no 401k match, Pto, vacation/sick days

Nothing, just want a body
LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) (Current Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - October 6, 2021
Wouldn 't refer for a good job or place to work. More focused on filling with very little staff. Dangerous place to work. No male staff at night. 16 to 1 ratio with low census.
Pros
None
Cons
Don't care about employees, only see dollars

Official response from Seaside HealthCare
February 7, 2022I'm sorry to read this comment, and you should know that there's been a major investment in recruiting more staff to SHS. Like all employers it's tough to find nurses but we have a new DON and are trending in the right direction.
No structure nor good management skills
CNA/MHT/PCA/DSW/Rehab Tech R.N. (Current Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - March 27, 2021
Management worries and targets the wrong things. They needs to fix things that's wrong on the inside. They needs Structure with the patient's and staff. Make a clean and safe environment for the patient's and staff mostly for the patient's. It's all about the patient's. Hire staff that have at least a little experience NOT the inexperienced addiction.

Just do your job and go home
Administration (Current Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - February 25, 2020
This job has a lot of ups and down. Watch your back. A lot of staff at this company can gossip and start mess. The kids have there bad & good days. They will curse you out and try to fight you. You will have to put a child down & you will have to break up fights. The pay is “ok” for DSW. You only have to work 3 days a week 12hrs & 30min shifts. Document everything because you will need it.

Poor management
Utilization Review Coordinator (Former Employee) - Baton Rouge - July 16, 2019
Avoid this place if at all possible. Very poor management. Hospital has a culture of blame and finger-pointing. Unstable and violent patients admitted just so the hospital can bill Medicaid, administration is not concerned about the safety of staff.

Great place to gain experience
Program Director (Former Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - July 1, 2019
Great staff to work with, patients receptive to services provided. Learned that being a director is a very stressful position if you have minimal experience

Terrible management at IOP on Lobdell . Very inconsistent rules and management decisions.
Therapist II (Current Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - May 16, 2019
Doctors prescribe patients meds that aren’t conducive to their ability to function on a daily basis in group activities.. Always changing the method of documentation. Supervisor very unprofessional.Frequently telling employees to look for other positions due to low ratio of patients.
Cons
May have to rotate leaving without pay due to low patient ratio

Poor Management
Records Clerk (Former Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - April 27, 2019
I was terminated for personal reasons from this company. They did things that was very inappropriate. I would not recommend no one to work there. This place has no type of security.

Poor management
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - April 12, 2019
Not a good place to work. Management does not value contributing team members. Expectations change depending on circumstance. Employees are terminated for personal reasons. Hard work is not valued. Direct line staff is great; Seaside could be an enjoyable workplace with a change in management.
Pros
Growing company
Cons
Horrible management; not safe environment for direct line staff

A typical day was keeping the peace and joy in place with challenging mental personalities among adults.
What I learned about mental health is having patience with your client
Management was always open door policy.
Admitting some combatiive patients that didn't want to be there.
The enjoyable part of the job was always seeinghow you"ve help see a tremendous change with Adl's and medication giving and taking to see there true baseline of knowing there ready for discharge of attending daycare programs weekly of positiveness and educating them on continuing the everyday and night medications.

Very productive
Medical Records Clerk (Former Employee) - Baton Rouge, LA - July 17, 2018
This job was a very fast paste job and whenever you came in to work there were charts to be audited everyday. Not one day went by where there were no charts to be done.
