Great job to get into the It field.
Technical Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Southfield, MIJuly 23, 2018
Working here was a great experience. I learned a lot about the It field as well as many other industries. One of the issues I had was that management never took what the employees were saying into account. On busy days they will provide food so that people don't have to go far for lunch so that you can get right back into work.
Pros
Free Coffee, Occasional free lunch
Cons
They don't listen to employee concerns

Great place to work for those with any experience or none at all.
Technical Support Representative (Former Employee) –  Southfield, MIJanuary 5, 2018
A typical day working at Secure-24 involved doing basic to intermediate level troubleshooting and issue resolution. There was no script and no required path to working a user's issue. There are no strict time limits on the phones as well, however they liked it if you could keep it down to less than 30 minutes per call (but again, that was not strict). You were allowed to use any resources you could (including Google for example). Issues you could be troubleshooting were of any variety in an enterprise environment, including servers and remote networking (VPN, etc), Outlook/Exchange, Broken Hardware, etc. Expect anything.

A typical day where I ended up outside of the help desk before being terminated was with an engineering team. We worked on keeping the ticket system working flawlessly, implementing new plugins and features within the ticket system, and more. It was a lot of stressful work but it was fulfilling. You felt like you accomplished things on most days.

I learned a lot about enterprise networks and working in an enterprise environment. I learned so much that it would take forever to try to explain how much I learned.

The hardest part of the job would have to have been the workload once you were promoted off of the help desk. Each of the engineering teams were operating with less people than they should be and working 50 hours a week was very common. It was incredibly stressful.

Management is one of the few things they could work on at Secure-24. Help Desk Management is great and always fights for their employees regardless of the issue. They are very caring
more... and recognize individual talent and try to deploy you based on your particular strengths. Management outside of the help desk however is incredibly lacking and needs a lot of work.

Workplace culture is incredible at Secure-24 (outside of management). Everyone works together to fix issues and everyone attempts to help everyone else. There are the standard workplace grouches, however they are far and few in-between.

There were too many enjoyable parts of the job to list them here without this part going on forever. Just know that there were a lot.

Technical Support Representative (Former Employee) –  Southfield, MIMay 18, 2017
It's not what you know, it's who you know as far as the help desk department goes. The VP of operation is the best. He is awesome in many way. But the manager of the TSR, if he doesn't like you, you won't make it pass his department. Thus, you won't make it in the company.
Pros
If you can make it pass TSR, your golden
Cons
Good luck making it pass TSR.

Seriously, it's pretty awesome
Engineer (Current Employee) –  Southfield, MIApril 20, 2016
I've been with the company for a little while now, and there's good reason for that. The company loves to hire within, and there are always great opportunities to move horizontally within the company. Most people are pleasant to work with, which is a statement that's very undervalued at a lot of companies. Depending on who your manager is, you're usually allowed to work from home if needed from time to time, although I wish there would be more of an official policy on this.

The office is newer with a pool table, pinball, 50 cent pop machines, and a few high-tech coffee machines for all-you-can-drink coffee and hot chocolate. You get unlimited access to the gym that is in the same building. There is also a cafeteria-like restaurant.

The company is constantly picking up technology from different vendors, so there's always something new to work on. Work-life balance is very good for an IT job, although there are a lot of people who consistently work more than 40-hour weeks. If you're in a support role, expect oncall duties. Depending on what team you're on, oncall may be a breeze, or it may be a bit challenging. Most calls are taken by offshore employees at night though, which really helps take the burden off of a single employee stateside.

S24 sponsored picnics and outings are nice venues for the family, while the company goes all out for the holiday party. You will be hard pressed to experience a holiday party like S24's, seriously.

One inconsistency about the company is the quality of the managers, as some simply aren't progressing the company. Most managers do fairly
more... well at their job though, and upper management has been doing a very good job lately of reorganization. Another gripe is that the pay isn't very competitive, unless you've hired in with a good negotiated salary. If you start from the bottom, it's very challenging to get paid more. You also don't get a set number of days for vacation, which a lot of people have found to be frustrating. It's up to your manager if you can take time off, and how many days you can have off, although this hasn't become a large issue for me yet.

In all, it's not a perfect company, but no company is. I feel like the culture is somewhere in between corporate and Google, but more on the relaxed side. I really hope it stays this way. I've rarely been in a situation of moral dilemma, most people are honest and open, and the company itself is constantly evolving and growing. You will rarely see many people in the office after 6, but it's not uncommon see people to leave work early and work from home until late hours either.

In all, it's a pretty good company to work for, and although it's still on the small side compared to a lot of IT companies, it will undoubtedly keep on growing. Larger customers are coming onboard every month, and new challenges are constantly being met with talent.

Without any direction but to produce, the owners had unrealistic expectations of their employees. Techs worked around the clock without any relief.
