Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Grand Blanc, MIJanuary 18, 2019
Like the previous reviewer stated, there's a definite good ol'boys feeling and everyone is shoving their religion down your throat at every turn. A lot of discrimination at upper levels and no effect whatsoever to hide it. President is a condescending jerk and needs to go!
Pros
Decent pay and ok benefits
Cons
Lack of flexibility, attitudes toward women and minorities

Fast-paced workplace that allows you to grow as an employee
Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Corporate HeadquartersSeptember 7, 2018
Security is a fast-paced workplace and one where you can't just sit back and coast. Supervisors at SCU allow you to grow as an employee, to learn new things and push you to make yourself better. This push is to make you grow, to improve your skills and make things better for our members. Front-line employees work tirelessly to deliver amazing member service, back-office employees understand that their role is to support the front-line group and our members and managers and supervisors support their employees in each and every way that they can.

This company is dedicated to making employees feel appreciated and makes it easy for employees to maintain an appropriate work-life balance. Employees are encouraged to share their opinions and ideas to propel the credit union forward. Walking trails were installed at the headquarters facility to promote employee wellness. Benefits to full-time employees are better than what is offered in the industry. The management team has an open door policy, from each supervisor up to the CEO.

I would definitely recommend SCU to job-hunters.

AVP and Branch Manager (Former Employee) –  Flint, MIAugust 23, 2018
I truly loved my 29 years at Security Credit Union! I hired in as a Part Time teller and retired as AVP and Branch Manager. Security Credit Union offers a fantastic benefits package, great training with positive reinforcement, and opportunities to advance. The Management Team is extremely helpful, supportive and open to new ideas. I especially love Security's commitment to Community Involvement. Overall great place to work!

Worst experience.
Teller (Former Employee) –  Lapeer, MINovember 24, 2017
Putting a head teller to train you when they are to busy to even do that part of the job along with their social calls and texting. They just give you videos to watch and your supposed to know everything from that. Very opionated co-workers. Talked rude about customers and other employees.
Pros
End of my shift and leaving.
Cons
All of it.

Limited Advancement
Teller (Former Employee) –  Burton, MIApril 18, 2017
With having a union, the opportunities for advancement are limited and not based on skill. It is based on the employee that has been there the longest that gets the next available position.

Negative Atmosphere
Anonymous (Former Employee) –  Flint, MIJune 2, 2016
Security Credit Union could be a great place to work, but the atmosphere is very negative. All they care about is making money, not keeping their members happy, which is unfortunate.

Not enjoyable
Communication Center (Former Employee) –  Flint, MIOctober 28, 2013
They were very different for not being an open Credit Union, just a call center. they are very opinionated, and talk behind backs. Very unprofessional place to work for. They tape and listen to all phone conversations.

Take the good with the bad.
Teller (Former Employee) –  Lapeer, MIAugust 29, 2012
Not bad for branches however, overall there is a lot of inequality amongst the credit union as a whole. Coworkers on the east side are much more apt to be a team than others. Fun job though if you aren't in it for advancement!
Pros
good coworkers, good local management, healthcare
Cons
upper management doesn't know about teller work on a realistic level, multiple union contracts
