Company Driver (Current Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – July 18, 2018
Sentinel is definitely a place that you'd want to retire from, they have great benefits (6% 401K match), and good pay ($85 annual average)for the industry. The hours are long but everything else makes up for it. Local management also does an awesome job connecting with the drivers and making sure that any issues are resolved. Overall I'd recommend Sentinel to any driver looking for a long career.
Class A CDL Driver (Former Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – July 16, 2018
Very stressful job, Management pushes drivers for high productivity, disregarding safety. They want drivers to work 60 hours per week, They do not pay overtime anymore. about 20 drivers quitted in the last few months.
401K, Health Benefits
do not pay overtime/they want drivers to work at least 60 hours per week.
Transport Driver/ Senior Dispatch (Former Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – July 7, 2018
great company as a whole, managed by no one who has light oil experience. pay was great and you can not beat the benefits but the atmosphere, fowl language and the treatment that comes from the corporate level leaves you nothing to respect.
Driver Associate (Former Employee) – Richmond, VA – June 8, 2018
Never would have left if not laid off? Sentinel lost DuPont contract which forced the entire lay off of all contract employees that fell under that contract? Hated to leave, best paying job I ever had.
Driver Helper (Seasonal) (Current Employee) – Sulphur, LA – April 30, 2018
They are very dishonest from the get go you will never make 80000.00 a year not even working every available hour of every day it is not possible. Their pay scale is below the average of tanker especially when you figure in a max speed of 60 mph. If you live in the truck you may average in the low 70’s and I do mean living in the truck.
Driver (Former Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – April 16, 2018
Sentinel has to be one of the worst places to work in the industry. They are famous for working their employees to the point of utter exhaustion and then severely punishing them for any minor mishap. If you love being overworked, misery, and constant criticism, this place is for you!
Truck Driver Class A (Former Employee) – Hobbs, NM – March 26, 2018
Great job and company had to relocate. Liked the work didn’t really have any problem working there would work there again if I had the opportunity. Seemed to me that company had employees interest in mind
Ex employee (Former Employee) – Hobbs, NM – September 22, 2017
Very cut throat company. You work as if your job depended on it. Very unprofessional. DON'T RECCOMEND WORKING HERE UNLESS YOU ENJOY BEING MICRO MANAGED. Low employee morale because of upper management . Company expects robots not humans.
Great benefits if you can put up with all the negativity .
Transport Driver (Current Employee) – Gardena, CA – July 24, 2017
Been in the industry for 20+ years and this has been the best job yet. Great pay, and great benefits. Not something you come across everyday. They really into safety. Rules are strict but if you do the job right you have no reason to worry.
bulk fuel tanker driver (Former Employee) – Portland, OR – July 17, 2017
the work it self was not bad, it's the people that ruined that job, starts at the top, upper management, no experience in the oil business or trucking, micro managed in areas where they can harass the drivers, no management where they need it, in the equipment or customer service or growing the business, they think that's an afterthought, 0 job security, tossup your gonna get fired, annoyedf and quit or go out of business, would not recommend.
Crude oil transport (Current Employee) – Andrews, TX – May 31, 2017
If you want to work for someone that tells you what to do, when to do it, where to do it and how to do it, and watch you thee whole time like they don't trust that you can do it, then this is the place for you.
Crude Oil Driver (Current Employee) – Los Angeles, CA – February 7, 2017
I recently started working for Sentinel Transportation, and the experience has been great so far. From the very beginning, HR was helpful and knowledgeable and on boarded me quickly compared to other transportation companies. The management and other employees and drivers care about driver well being and safety.
High starting salary, great benefits, their main focus is driver safety
The hours can be long obviously, If youre not used to strict safety guidelines..not the place for you.
Untrustworthy employer not a very good company to work for. Also not a very great and safe company either work wise and management wise. Getting equipment repaired is also close to impossible with the mechanics there.
Dispatcher (Former Employee) – SENTINEL GARDENA, CA – September 25, 2016
This company can be top notch if the maqnagement was not bias against certain races and knew how to talk to individuals. The are a lot of Cheifs that have great ideas but do not have a professional bone to implement. If you want to make a check and get treated like you are nothing this is the place for you.
Checks clear weekly
No lunches;no breaks and great place to lose moral
