Great Opportunity to Add Legitimacy to My Passion
Makeup Specialist (Former Employee) –  IllinoisAugust 9, 2019
Sephora is a large and well respected company company for many reasons. Of all of the companies I've worked for that turned profits through sales sephora has the most extensive, detailed and organized training which I do appreciate. The work place was competive but not commission based therefore I felt that management encouraging this sort of behavior could have been better managed, however sephora also made sales far beyond the other companies I was employed by, I believe this is due to the restrained partnership between employees at sephora.

I have LOVED working for this company. The managers there provided so much knowledge about the industry and always encouraged my teammates and myself by highlighting our artistry.

Beauty Studio Coordinator (Current Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 7, 2019
It’s a great company if you want to learn about different make up brands. Training is great. They keep up with trends but still teach you the basics of make. Way better then actually going to beauty school.

Bad place to shop and worse place to work
Operations Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Heath, OHAugust 7, 2019
I worked in a Sephora inside JC Penney. I left because of management. Job wasn't great to begin with but it paid decent. I was supposed to be a supervisor but had no training for my job. Manager loved drama and creating a high school environment. The other staff were appallingly juvenile and of low intelligence. You can find anything at Sephora cheaper somewhere else.

Great Place
Cashier (Former Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 5, 2019
Flatiron is in the heart of the city. With a mostly residential clientele, clients get an individualized experience where the cast of associates truly knows them and their needs.

Fun place to work just wish it would pay more
Beauty Advisor (Current Employee) –  Miami, FLAugust 5, 2019
Fun place to work if you enjoy make up just wish they would pay more and make hours consistent. The yearly raises are not that much and when you get certified to do makeovers you don't get a pay increase.
When they need you they fill you up with hours but then cut them drastically out of nowhere. Everyone is easy to get along for the most part.

Upper management was not well trained
Skin Care Specialist (Former Employee) –  Palm Desert, CAAugust 3, 2019
I wanted to work for sephora for so long and when I finally got the job I was excited because I really wanted to grow with the company. Unfortunately my management was not that well educated and I was not paid well for my expertise or knowledge. The store I worked at was also very cliquey and if certain girls didn't like you or were threatened by your knowledge or sasalesmanship

Beauty Advisor (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAAugust 2, 2019
If you need a job to fit your school schedule and not that much for money then this is it. Benefits given only if you work certain amount of hours. 401k available. Tight on the purse strings when it comes to paying you what your worth. You don’t need to be licensed. Gratis is good, but you get more if you work more hours. Great advancement opportunities if this will be your career.

The hardest part of the job
Warehouse Associate (Current Employee) –  Belcamp, MDAugust 2, 2019
The hardest part of the job was standing in one spot for 10 to 12 hours and working in the summer heat! Once you get use to it you will be fine but you just have to adjust to the fast paced!

A spider web of lies
eLearning Developer (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CAJuly 31, 2019
Leadership is busy managing up to genuinely understand what's happening at ground level — consistently over promising and under delivering. Imagine working for an HR department yet are too unsettled to talk with your direct manager(s) as they're too vested playing politics.

If your are willing to work in a environment that is constantly competitive and high pressure then Sephora is place for you
Cashier (Former Employee) –  Centennial, COJuly 30, 2019
Overall I loved working out Sephora but it was the kind of place where it was very competitive and if you made the littlest mistakes the managers would look so down on you . In my short time working there three people quit because the environment was just not the best. The managers will talk behind your back and say very very rude stuff about you .

SiJCP is very different than freestanding Sephoras
Operations Manager (Current Employee) –  Algonquin, ILJuly 28, 2019
I managed a SiJCP team, and the culture is completely different. The JCP team was not helpful, and JCP store manager was down your throat about iCAPs and sales numbers daily. This made it very hard to enjoy the job and often I dreaded going into work knowing we had near impossible goals for each day.
I did enjoy my fellow SiJCP associates and our regular customers, they were why I stayed as long as I did.

Intentions are good, but are lost among the technological era.
Operations Lead/Retail Manager (Current Employee) –  SephoraJuly 27, 2019
As a manager, a typical day at work involves paperwork, prioritizing and scheduling, prepping, organizing and executing tasks, resolving issues (old and new), and client service. I've learned that every day will be different and something new can be learned. The crew are all wonderful people that loose steam at the end of each day. The hardest part of the job is keeping up the momentum and encouraging others to do the same. But, as long as I can make a client or a crew member smile, my day is good.
Pros
Being able to help clients feel beautifully confident.
Cons
Micromanaged
