For felons and first time job seekers.
Operator (Current Employee) –  Phoenix, AZAugust 1, 2018
Never have I seen such disorganization, lack of communication, or unfriendliness. Wanted to quit after my second day.
Racism, sexism, harassment, bullying, all ok here. Saftey not a consern. Leadership is an absolut JOKE! Not responsable for anything including helping workers. No problems ever get solved and you get treated like trash. If you come here kiss your supervisors butt and you will be ok. For first time seekers it is a ok place to get some experience.
Pros
Free coffee and popsicles. Good pto. EASY job.
Cons
Leadership. Hot as h#ll.

an Okay place to work
Packer (Current Employee) –  Bristol, VAApril 29, 2018
a typical day at work consist of standing on your feet all day packing potato chips in a fast pace environment, the management would be great if they could figure out who was actually in charge,
the hardest part of the job is that it is just physically demanding and requires to be in basically good overall health.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the people.
Pros
get paid for 12 hours of work, overtime as wanted most of the time.
Cons
only three 20 minute breaks in 12 hours of standing

It can be as much or as little as you want
Electrician (Former Employee) –  Hermiston OregonNovember 1, 2017
I worked there about a year. I got termed for a valid reason. I blew a .02 in a zero tolerance plant. (really bad hangover.) Overall it was a pretty good place to work. It was chaotic at times, but I seen worse, Safety was under-emphasized at times but I've seen A LOT worse. It is insufferably hot in places in the summer time. For production workers, be warned, your hours may be cut due to seasonal demands. Maintenance is kind of disorganized and they're chronically short of what you need to do the job, but I've found that to be more and more common over the last 20 years. Good people though. The people are generally friendly and sincere, and the supervisors aren't any more annoying than anywhere else I've worked. If you're looking for a steady pay check go to one of the Lamb-Weston plants in the area.
Pros
I found them to be generally friendly
Cons
It is fainting level hot on the tortilla line in the summer

Flexible schedule - Good pay
Packer/Picker (Former Employee) –  Bristol, VAJune 13, 2017
I worked at Shearer's for about three years. Schedule was flexible if you wanted to get your hours in early in the week. Overtime was often available especially in the summer but never forced on you. In the winter managers would work with people to try to get everyone 40 hours.

Night shift managers not as good as day shift managers. Everyone on day shift was nice and helped each other.
Pros
Schedule (40+ hours early in the week then have weekends off) Friendly environment
Cons
Need better training for Packer new hires

Crazy , unfair , and very hot!!!
Bottom of Shoe (Current Employee) –  Bristol, VAJune 13, 2017
Could be a good place too work but management has no clue how run the plant!! Unrealistic expectations! Treat people like it's the military. Operation Manager has no clue what or how to communicate with employees. I could take a 5 year old let them run place better than he could! He says change coming and nothing but bull . The best change could be for him to resign before he cost 300-400 people there lively Hood. Stay away from this place!!!
Pros
Payday

It's a nice Job but if your not use to standing all day and night then this won't be you it's fast paced as well. And another thing you have some bossy people there even the one's that are in the same position as yourself and very grouchy women.
