Every day at Sherwin I sell paint to customers, restock inventory, unload shipment truck, and make about 5 sales calls a day. I sometimes work open to close on weekends, and I usually close every night on the weekdays that include banks drops. Work environment is great, and my manager's do a very good job at keeping the store in shape.

Sherwin offers a great work environment for most and tons of opportunities to grow. You can move up quick if you are a hard worker and determined. Only cons are the store hours

If anyone wants to work part time then there is a spot for you. I started out as a part time van driver and eventually moved up into the warehouse; Doing the warehouse for the store wasn’t all that great since you only get one truck a week and once it’s in and stocked there’s not much else to do so you had to act busy and I literally mean act busy. I met a lot of customers most of them being repetitive so you really got to know them and their business. When it came to promotions though even though it’s said to be equal opportunity it really wasn’t at least for management positions.

The pace varied throughout the day. Mornings were typically spent mixing a lot of paint and gathering and selling products for dozens of contractors. The busywork made the mornings rush by a bit quickly. Contractors typically knew exactly what they wanted, so they made the job easy you. The sheer work volume could be a bit stressful. Most contractors were friendly, though some were grumpy. Afternoons were more dedicated to stocking shelves, cleaning up the store, putting up price tags, etc. You saw more homeowners than contractors during this time, so you'd engage them in pleasant conversations while selling them products. Occasionally, we'd get large orders to fulfill for the following day that'd keep us busy until closing. But typically, evenings were way easier and less stressful than mornings. The overall vibes were pretty casual and friendly. There was always something within the store that needed doing, so you'd kill a lot of time even on slower days. Very busy in the summer, but very slow in the winter. Getting time off was never a hassle. Occasionally, the bosses would treat us to free food from one of the nearby restaurants. While the boss was certainly hands-on during the morning rush, they weren't as present during the afternoons to evenings, spending more time working in their office. That said, if you ever needed their help with something, they were more than willing to come out and help. They were very understanding and patient.Overall, I enjoyed my time here.
