My experience working with SHIFTKEY was usually a very stressful experience.

Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWhat is the best part of working at the company? The best part of working with SHIFTKEY was the pay scale. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The most stressful part was bidding on jobs that were closer to you but not knowing in advance if you had the job till a day or two before. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Long Term Care facilities that were very understaffed and unclean. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Arriving to a facility after driving 2 hrs and the nurse I would be relieving barely gave a report on the Unit. Immediately assess; administered meds d/t the amount of patients to nurse ratio 1:30 and timed meds. Very stressful.

LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) (Former Employee) - West Virginia - May 27, 2023
What you need to understand is that you are self employed, not an employee of Shiftkey. There are many glitches with the system, lack of available shifts in my area and the mileage is way off. In the app the mileage listed for the distance of a facility from my home is half of what the actual one way mileage is. Shiftkey is a platform tailored to help facilitate coverage for facilities, they will not back you if there is an issue because you do not work for them.
Pros
Flexibility
Cons
Shifts are often canceled or no response at all to bids

working for myself has posed some challenges like with tax season, but overall i love it.
Contract LPN (Current Employee) - San Angelo, TX - May 13, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? I enjoy the daily pay and the pay rates, as well as the flexibility to work as much or as little as I want. I can make my own check. I also love traveling so not being in the same place many days in a row is nice. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The facilities and their in-house staff. Sometimes they are nice and sometimes they are rude. Also some facilities take a long time to approve timesheets so you have to keep calling to get them to approve it. especially after you have already worked the shift. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? you are a self employed contractor so you are the culture of your own little company What is a typical day like for you at the company? Depends on facility and on the patient load.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company? So far at the facilities i have booked the environment and culture of the employers were fair. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Go to facility booked. Worked required shift, get paid the next day if that is your pay preference.

It sucks
CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant (Current Employee) - Indiana - May 10, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? No hours. Always getting canceled and they don’t follow up to make sure you are paid. I’m missing money. ShiftKey does not help you they don’t contact you back and I am taking them to court. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? They never call you when you have a concern you can’t speak to anybody. And when you do they could care less. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Everybody hates ShiftKey at these facilities. Treat you like you don’t belong there. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Having no work no hours and no money

What is the best part of working at the company? I love it cause you get to make you own schedule and how many days you want to work from 8 hrs, 12 hrs, or 16's if they let you What is the most stressful part about working at the company? When you are approved and the day before your approved shift they cancel. Or day of, and you were counting on that money to pay some type of bills. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? I don't work in the company I am a contractor through Shiftkey.... It is a wonderful atmosphere and cultural love every where I have been especially from the residents. So, co-workers as well. But, I go to do my job within my scope of practices. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Like I said I don't work at Shiftkey... I 'm a Contractor through Shiftkey as Self-employed. PERIOD

Staffing
LVN Charge Nurse (Current Employee) - DFW, TX - April 24, 2023
It's an agency. it is what you make of it. Bid for shifts. If you get chosen just go. It's really that simple. Don't want to work? Then don't bid on shifts

agency work
LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) (Current Employee) - Kentucky - April 17, 2023
picking up shifts through shift key is a great way to earn some extra money and get to travel and see new places. however I wouldn't recommend it as a full time gig, especially if you need benefits. they also don't keep your taxes so you're responsible for that too. If you're ok with those 2 things then its awesome.

Convenient but unreliable
CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant (Current Employee) - Anywhere - April 11, 2023
It is nice that you can choose shifts whenever you want. You are also able to state the rate that you want. The issue comes that facilities have to approve of you and your rate. Sometimes you can put yourself as below market rate and your shift will not be accepted. Sometimes your shift will be accepted and then revoked at a later time before your shift. It leaves you floundering. But this is not happen all the time and depends on the facility you are applying to. Overall it is not a bad application to pick up extra shifts.

You will have facilities that you work a shift for and not be paid. Your relief can be late and you won’t get paid for staying over. They are no help with issues with the facilities. They don’t pay if you get cancelled. Only upside is that you get a decent wage per hour when you actually do get paid. Most facilities that are available are not decent and don’t appreciate the help.
Pros
None
Cons
Everything
