Shopper/Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Michigan - October 19, 2020
Started with Instacart, but after talking with other Shipt people while in various stores I moved over. I've recently passed 300 deliveries in the last 3 months and gotten over the hump of regular frustrations of customers not responding to texts, forcing me from one side of large stores to another and then back again, or never including substitution items. I stopped putting myself on the schedule as it worked against my window of time available to fulfill orders so I stuck with "promo"s orders only. Company does not provide any actual feedback on specific orders to help you understand some customers irritations. They recently collapsed their pay schedules and hide the true order value vs. promo incentive to keep shipt shoppers in the dark while at the same time saying it will help us make more money and offers greater transparency. Fooey! 1 customer in 300 lodged a complaint saying I was rude, but you don't get to see the actual customer words to understand what the beef was. So how do you improve yourself? Forcing you to retake the online course which has nothing to do with the customer issue. 2 weeks later I took an order in an area not familiar to me and decided to move back into one closer to home but received a phone call from a family member to come to my dad's(he's 92) so I dropped two consecutive orders to make myself avail to go visit and see what the problem was and the next morning I was terminated. As follows saying... "Unfortunately, you have been deactivated from the Shipt Shopper app and your role as an independent contractor with Shipt will officially -

Not for the faint of heart

I am still new to being a Shipt Shopper, but it has been difficult so far. I delivered a customer's goods yesterday 3 minutes past the deadline (5:03PM), but did not get credit on that shop for the bonus offered that day. Items that people ask for can be heavy (40 pack of water bottles) and Shipt offers no help on planning routes (When doing multiple shops at one time) inside or outside of the store. It is a good way to make money while being able to make your own schedule though.

When doing personal shops, the time limits you are u set can be stressful What is the work environment and culture like at the company? You are very independent working at this job. Support is amazing and always very quick to respond What is a typical day like for you at the company? You choose you own hours. You choose your own routes and shops. Delivery to residents homes

Can be fast paced if you take on a lot of orders, which makes it fun for me. Overall the job itself is easy and fun to do in my book. Make own hours.
