Great company to work for, great benefits, but management SUCKS. They’re super reactive and don’t really provide a collaborative environment but complain about numbers.

I felt like this job has taught man how to become more of a people’s person and to always be ready to do something no matter what is is. I used to have to take people from place to place or had to clean up someone’s bed, but no matter what it was I always did it.
Pros
Fun
Cons
Hard work

Management expects you to do "your best", provides little feedback, and criticizes you for doing what you were told to do. Doing your best was never good enough for management. It's exhausting, mentally and physically trying to make management happy.

It was a great place to volunteer! All the staff is really helpful and it’s great to feel part of the community. Being close to PTs and able to learn more about US work environment was important for me.

This is an excellent organization to work for. The culture centers on research and innovation of technology and patient treatment. Patients and families are included in goal setting and encouraged to be active participants in their care.

As a volunteer my experience was likely different from individuals applying for paid job here. Nevertheless, I found the environment and the culture to highly satisfactory.

Besides the necessary tokens to keep the EEOC at bay, you’ll only succeed if your FIRST female and WHITE! The neglects the physical safety of its employees and promotes an extremely passive aggressive hostile environment.

Working in the security department was relaxed and team-oriented. Most of staff on each shift (morning, afternoon, overnight) got along well and hung out off the clock. Supervisor provided numerous opportunities for education to enhance officer’s capabilities.

Their #1 PMR ranking is not an exaggeration. Everyone operates on a higher level here. There are some growing pains with moving into the new building that Leadership is aware of and trying to address. Their pay is average, but you will not find a better place for clinical knowledge or access to clinical research.
Pros
Amazing access to research opportunities, knowledgeable coworkers, diverse caseload
Cons
the average pay, lack of pure quiet spaces for deep work

They will say just about anything to get you in the door and under contract with them. However, once it comes to fulfilling those promises management will say it's out of the scope of the department. They seem like they want to improve, but suggestions go unheard.
Pros
1/2 the staff know employee retention rate is down and do everything they can to help their peers, They hire those without much experience
Cons
Each floor and department has separate management, This leads to different rules and regulations, So communication lacks, Core staff can also be clicky or burnt out, Work load falls on new faces, You lose all bonuses with emergency call ins, They are always short staffed; leaving the remaining staff stressed and pulled thin, Feels like management is more concerned with reaching max capacity, Rather than keeping a safe patient care environment.

Although I enjoyed the company, the people that worked there were a completely different story. The lead painter was very arrogant and quite cruel. He often belittled me to the point of mental exhaustion.
Pros
I won an award once, that was nice
Cons
Had to pay for parking at the garage that the hospital owned, endured abuse, kept asking for reviews and first shift but kept giving it to newer people ignorning my requests

Department is very clickish. Manager is out sourced through an agency. They get a director every few years. There are employees who have been there for every. They will do anything to keep their jobs. No ethics or morals. Lack of leadership and corruption. No matter what i say here, you wont believe it. Department is run by few pharmacists. Dirctor is a push over. Not competent even though he looks tough. To me this is the xukture

Shirley Ryan is a beautiful place work looking from the outside. Thus the care for employees says a lot about the company, no real room for advancement! Please don’t have a medical condition as they do not care!! You are often over worked and understaffed. YOUR LIFE DOES NOT MATTER TO SOME MANAGEMENT... Management on some units are terrible and are not even in touch with employees.
