Transition

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Company is in a place of transition. It will be great once the initial shifts are made. They have very capable employees. There is a just a lot going on.

No chance for advancement and raises are nonexistent

On paper, the company looks great but there are little to no options for advancement. Management actively tries to lower annual review scores to justify the 1% raise they'll give (if any). There's no incentive to work harder and no consequence for slacking so only a handful of people do most of the work. It's a good place to get your foot in the door but the company's been bought 3 times in the 5 years I've been there and they've let go of a large number of quality employees in the process. There's no real job security and the investment firm that currently owns it already stated they plan on selling in the next couple of years.

Fun workplace to work, mostly millenials

company is mostly millennials, very nice people. Less experienced, still learning. Some are holding leader ship positions. Experienced personnel hardly listened.

Pros

Flexible schedule

Cons

a lot of meetings, long term projects....

Great company

Working at SHL means you are working with amazing co-workers. Very collaborative, everyone is willing to pitch in and lend a hand. The company does a lot to recognize employees and work on building morale after a tough year (being sold always means a lot of changes & turnover for a while which hurts morale) with social activities, rewards and recognition programs. SHL pays well and provides AMAZING benefits. Leadership is very open to suggestions and is approachable. 19 days of PTO, 10 holidays and the opportunity to volunteer during work hours up to 40 hours with pay or volunteer outside of work hours to earn more PTO for the next year. We have an open floor plan so it can be noisy and hard to concentrate but we do have quiet rooms and a variety of meeting rooms so there are places for private calls, conversations with mangers and meetings.

Pros

Great benefits, great co-workers, a lot of recognition, approachable managers

Cons

A lot of changes & turnover since being sold

Review

Shift to private equity has led to a lot of changes and uncertainty. Goals are lofty, and teams are striving to meet them. Onboarding is not defined, and employees chart their own path. There is a lot to learn in regards to products and services which can be challenging.

Culture varies by office location

SHL has lost it's innovation while under CEB, and now part of a PE firm the cuts are coming fast and furious. The America's lacks leadership at all levels within the sales team. If you are looking at a sales role here I would encourage you to look elsewhere. We don't have solutions that 1) can be delivered once sold; 2) a product offering that is robust- updated- and cutting edge. I'd check back in two to three years to see how our products and solutions have evolved, and what our wallet retention rate is.

Pros

Free Gym;

Cons

outdated product; professional services team too stretched; Leadership lacks managerial courage

Nice and clean building. Good benefits. Not many opportunities to advance.

The best quality this job has are the benefits, those are the best, main reason why the majority of the people stay. Lack of opportunities to advance in the career.

Pros

excellent benefits, management flexibility to employees' needs

Cons

Lack of opportunities to advance

Fast paced, friendly environment.

Good management team with a heavy workload. Everyone working toward a common goal with a desire to achieve excellence.

Class concious culture

Management has no vision. Stuck in in process, without meaningful improvement. View "push Back" that would lead to improvement as divisive. cutting costs is the only motivation, and it always results in performance degradation and lost capabilities.

Pros

Polite people

Cons

them verses us attitutde
