I was so pleased and amazed in the beginnin of my 18 year employment with Simmons Boardman Publishing. Management was supportive, work, family life balance was great. But the last 3 years with new management the shine wore off. Very little support and no increases in pay. In the end they came in on a Monday and said your job is being out sourced and you need to train the new company on your jobs. If we did not help with the transition we did not get our severance pay.

This is not a place to build a career. There is little to no advancement. The company plays a very obvious game of favoritism. The work environment is uncomfortable and hostile. The company insists on accomplishing goals without spending and money and in some cases reducing the amount of funds available for goal completion. The company's data and technology systems are not progressing with the rest of the industry. They do offer paid time off, but it takes 10 years to increase your vacation days and each year the number of paid vacation days seems to shrink. The company does offer health benefits and a 401K. The health benefits offer minimal coverage and you pay most things out of pocket and the 401K you have to ask about and set-up yourself.

This is not the place to build a career. There is no opportunity for advancement. No fleixibility. No working remotely. Obvious favoritism of men and young women.

A very friendly and respectful environment which makes your work day easy. The management team is great and able to help with any questions or doubts that may arise at any given time.
