Great Place to Work, Stress depends on Projects

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Skyworks is overall a good place to work. Good benefits, good work-life balance that really depends on what project you are on. Corporate can be either completely hands off one week to breathing down everyone's necks the next. Other than that its great

Pros

Snacks, friendly enviornment

Cons

Week to week tasks can be brutal

It was a good place to work.

Worked there 20+ years. It was a good place to work. Management made the extreme effort to cut costs any way possible. Other sites would have company events but not newbury park site. Now they are going though thought times as many of the top talent have left before the layoffs.

Soul crushing

Operators are treated like absolute throw away garbage. Sweat Shop level of treatment. Better schedule sick days in advance, because if you call in sick once you get a point and it affects negatively on your review. you can crush your goals 99 days in a row, miss once and take your talking to. Kind of place that promotes the incompetent cause if you are good, you are needed right where you are. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Great people

I worked with some really amazing people. The shifts available to work are a plus, especially with the differentials. People were really grateful and helpful.

Pros

People. Shifts. Growth encouragement.

Cons

Healthcare options (for my needs anyway)

Don’t recommend if a New hired

I worked as a operator for this company for only 8 months before being laid off. This company has a tendency to lay off almost all new employees before their year is up to avoid a raise .Management is poor, they pick and choose favorites. Coworkers in the fab were between good and bad. Most employees who worked years at this company are not motivated and sucked out of life . When put in a department, trainers and leads are expected to train you in that department. However, this is not the case most of this time you are learning the department on your own or by a coworker (if they are willing to ) . They have a horrible point system; if you leave early it’s inexcusable. So if you have a lot of emergency best to steer far away from this company. The company is short handed on employees so you’re expected to do the work of 3 people and make the goal in the end of day or else they will come up to you and complain. Also the job itself is repetitive and if you work here for awhile it may cause you carpel tunnel from repetitive motion. Some coworkers will take more than a 30 min break , so sometimes you are all alone in your department taking care of multiple tools. Also in this company is almost impossible to move up or any future success .

Pros

Ergo handling, Good pay

Cons

Horrible point system, favoritism, No future success, poor management

Great place to work

Skyworks always has the best interest of its employees in mind. They offer good salaries, clean and safe work environment, flexible shifts to allow for changes in family situations. The Woburn facility has managers sitting in open cubes instead of behind closed doors. They offer gain-sharing which provides additional money to employees based on profit goals. That’s in addition to a good 401k match, and staff offered additional educational opportunities. When you go work elsewhere, you begin realizing just how bad it is at other organizations. High insurance rates, lack luster management involvement and poor overall business performance. I didn’t find those things at Skyworks.

I did not enjoy that company

What is the best part of working at the company? There isn't one. This place is a toxic work environment. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The wishy washy management. Two faced people. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Semiconductor. Culture is mixed. A lot of foreigners from Asian countries and others. Overall the environment is very civil but the politics are volatile. What is a typical day like for you at the company?12 hrs of doing pretty much nothing. You have maybe two hours of work and a whole lot of day.

Poor Management

Poor management from leadership from the top-down. Not much training from the beginning and not a very inclusive environment. No emphasis on growth or career development as someone who walked into the position eagerly.

Pros

Cafeteria has good food

Fast paced work environment with lot's of opportunity to learn new technical skills. Most co-workers are friendly and skilled at their area of expertise.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Overall can I honestly say it wasn't a stressful company to work for. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Very hands-on. Let you learn the job and then run the job. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Most of the time starting a job and running it to its fulfillment.

Sense of purpose, high degree of freedom but lower pay.

You get to work independenrly and drive projects, very little micromanagement. The team members tend to be good people willing to help the top executived are stingy tough.

Good company overall

The schedule is great and pay. The job is very repetitive and could get boring but if you are willing to learn they will cross train. Night shift has a 15% premium pay.

Pros

Compressed schedule

Cons

Repetitive

2 stars

What is the best part of working at the company? The pay was good. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Sometimes there was a lot of overtime, even during holidays. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Not especially noteworthy. The work environment is subpar. Company culture is focused on sustainability only, like working is a cubicle in a warehouse. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Long days setting up, testing, multiple projects, repeat day after day, year after year. Not much variation.

Productive and fun workplace

Very good place to work. Good and friendly people. The benefits are not too bad. The pay is reasonable. It is definitely a good job to start your way in the manufacturing field.

Extremely toxic work culture

All the negative reviews are absolutely correct. It's a 11.5 hr day. I learned how to run tools for the area I'm in. Management does not have their peoples back. They play nieve about all that goes on. High in nepotism with the incentive to higher family and get $500 dollars. The hardest part of the job is pretending you don't notice or understand what is actually going on, so you can keep your job. The most enjoyable part of the day is going home.
