This was the first time I have experienced a work environment like this. Very unprofessional, lack of communication and verbal abuse. I extremely DO NOT recommend this company to anyone. Yes they are very successful but id rather be with a company who cares about there employees.

Never knew what work load you had until you came to work. Very unorganized, confusion, switching from one job to next, number of errors everyday. I was promised permanent but never happen. I was a excellent employee.

Decent company overall
CNC Machinist (Current Employee) –  Memphis, TNJune 19, 2018
Management is inconsiderate and condescending to production floor employees. They do not listen to production floor employees about issues that are hindering their performance. Management continuously increases production demands, but does not incorporate improved systems that would set their employees up for success. And although management knows it all, they somehow can't figure out how to significantly decrease scrap and improve their employee retention rate. My supervisor has the poorest interpersonal skills I've ever experienced from any member of management.

Also, the pressure of meeting production rates is so high, many times employees skip company provided breaks. Sad to say, Smith & Nephew is a modern day sweat shop. The only difference is they have air-conditioned facilities.

This company needs a complete management overhaul. They can't keep people, because they don't know how to treat people.

Great company with great benefits, but there is no career path. Cost of living raises are given every year, but other than that your salary doesn't increase even with promotions.

Materials Manager (Former Employee) –  Memphis, TNJune 4, 2018
Several meetings per day, Learned that my development is up to me the company will not influence it. Culture changed to unprofessional, hardest part of job was balancing managing and performing analysis work for upper management. The most enjoyable was being able to share expertise and knowledge with others. Working together to solve problems and seeing results.
Pros
Meaning products that help people
Cons
Unprofessional environment

Management is not held to same standard as employees. Open door policy is just that....open door , no action.
Not much room for growth or development plan.

Stress driven to make production number, and sacrifice to quality. the benefits and pay outweigh the issue that the management have to endure. Most cases you do get the chance to meet great people along the way.

Product Specific Sales Representative (Former Employee) –  WisconsinMay 26, 2018
It was cool to be able to get in to something like this without schooling since its a mix of sales and medical knowledge. Indirect sales reps are not the way to go since they dont have the security and systems in play to really succeed.
Pros
Foot in the door for potential growth in that field
Cons
Didnt have a good training system

ACCOUNT MANAGER (Former Employee) –  San Bernardino, CAMay 18, 2018
The company struggles to organize itself within corporate which trickles down to everyone else. There is a lack of communication about changes that are happening and have happened. There is a lack of trust in sales analytics and their ability to do their job correctly which impacts and reflects improper sales credit.

Distribution Associate (Current Employee) –  Memphis, TNMay 15, 2018
I've learned that no matter what you say or how you feel it doesn't matter to management here. I noticed the ones who like to kiss tail always get their way. You get overlooked if you're a person who doesn't mind speaking up for yourself. It's best to be a person who is out of sight and out mind with this company. In my experience we're all just another number in the books.

Will work long hours
Material Handler/Forklift Operator (Current Employee) –  Memphis, TNMay 12, 2018
Typical low pay and work until job is complete on third shift.1st shift doesnt work over time if they dont want to. 2nd shift stays sometimes and the workers usually slack off when third shift come in. 3rd shift stays until the work is done and you have to finish 2nd shift work before you start on thirds work. Management supports messy employees who are permanent. This department is ortho picking. The pay is 10.61 for material handlers. You will walk at least 10 miles a day in steal toes. This is the holmes location.
Pros
Plenty of over time
Cons
Management is horrible

Extremities Territory Manager (Current Employee) –  Austin/San AntonioMay 8, 2018
Large company that has a global presence, slow to adapt to market place needs. Excellent for stability but slow for upward mobility. Corporate culture is great for those that have management on their side.
Pros
Globally recognized company
Cons
Company is slow on meeting and adapting to the current extremites market place.

Executive Support
Senior Desktop Technician (Current Employee) –  Andover, MAMay 1, 2018
My day often starts with an email that arrived overnight from a traveling exec that is having an issue. I will initially contact the exec's admin to ascertain location, travel status and time zone. Then schedule remote service or plan for the execs arrival.
In the meantime using Service Now, the queue is active nationwide as well as local looking for support.
Pros
Most of the people are very nice.
Cons
Communication from IT management is non-existant.

Senior Quality Engineer / QC Manager (Former Employee) –  Memphis, TNMay 1, 2018
This company has grown over the years from a small operation to a market leader that it is today. Be expected to put in the hours though. They compensate well but expect it back.
