I loved working in the pork industry. I advanced in many areas. I had the support from my supervisor. He was a very easy going person to work with and made sure his department was safe.

Pros

overtime

Cons

none

It comprises a system of tight knit group of management, husband and wife , HR , to Operation Manager to wife on line to supervisor.

If you are a person who strives to do the best and being a good person , this is not the place for you , it's been four years of straight mental and physical permanent damage that will never be compensated nor acknowledged. you cannot come in here and do justice , you will go back out the building before you break or you will have to change your way of life and live in a very uncaring, self centered , and dangerous lifestyle. You will not become better.

Pros

One free glazed ham per year

Cons

No parking space, expect 15 min walks, Bathroom is flawed system you will have issues going to restroom, Over achievers will be broken not rewarded, You work weekends too consistently Constant shift hour changes, Do not expect pay for being sick they will fire you, All kindness is abused, The things management think and say to each other is horrible towards hourly employees, They treat worse than livestock, "you are working hard today " however they will tell someone of management you are garbage

I really enjoyed working there we had regular productive production meetings

I was an operations manager at Smithville I had a very good job I loved it I wish I never left there but I was offered a plant manager position at another facility and I took the job thinking it would be better but I really wish I had stayed

Pros

There is always room for advancement

Good pay. Terrible managment

Was promised a welcome on bonus then told I wouldnt receive it when we double checked if we would. New hire on boarding is a disaster. Management is poor. The pay wasn't worth the drive or time.

Great Pay No Job Security

The pay is Great!! But VERY POOR COMMUNICATION and MANAGEMENT ….The open door policy is a set up to be targeted because, they all stick together even HR…No room for advancement unless you have a family member that works there or you’re a favorite….No life if you work night shift…..Some supervisors like to nitpick and demand respect but doesn’t return it…Case Ready 2 night shift the worst dept. and/or job I’ve ever had to endure in my 18 years of working….Document EVERYTHING and keep up with documentation!! Always abide chain of command but, do notify corporate when and/or if a problem should arise!! Better outcome if you work Day Shift more PROFESSIONAL and less STRESS!! Good Luck!!

Pros

Great Pay Weekly and Sign On Bonus

Cons

Short Breaks, Management, Point System

Great Benefits

The pay & benefits were decent, however 12 hour nightshifts were not outstanding especially when temps were constantly hired making more a hour & always calling in.Management is less than desirable & so was HR--Between HR & Management it was a hostile working environment.

Pros

Great benefits & decent pay, overtime

Cons

Crummy general mgr, long hours

Decent pay and benefits

The starting pay and benefits are decent. There are not raises for time in service anymore but you can make more money by bidding on there jobs. Thete is usually a lot of overtime buy but lately the schedule has been unpredictable.

Go through lots of hogs per day but you are just a number

Lots of people who work there not many days off though the people who work with are all pretty nice the longer you are there the more time off you get

Horrible working place

Horrible working environment you get worked to death 24/7 and are expected to keep working no matter what. They will not work with you when it comes to family matters, they will point you heavily for the dumbest reasons.

Over Worked with no respect

They will tell you you get weekends off and only work a Saturday if production is low but even when you are on quota they will work you 6-7 days a week for MONTHS straight. They are reluctant on wanting to accept time off requests even when it’s for a doctors appointment. Management is very high school-like, they pick and choose their favorites and can make work life hard for employees they aren’t too fond of. The overall experience of the plant is chaotic to say the least, the money is good but after awhile it’s not even worth the trouble.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Hectic work life

It will always be a management issue

Management always Suffer because they put unexperienced managers in charge Just another way of earning a paycheck most managers have zero people skills

Pros

Insurance and benefits

Cons

Long hours and no life outside of that

Tons of hours

Pay is at the lower end for the maintenance work but the availability of hours is very high. If you play your time off far in advance then getting time off isn't horribly difficult but if you don't then you will work 6 to 7 days a week

Pros

Ton of hours

Cons

No room for advancement.

Great benefits

Company has great benefits. The pay isn’t bad but you have to work a lot of hours to make really good money. Management could do a better job at noting potential and allowing those employees to advance.

Felt out of place

When I work here I felt like I didn’t belong there, it might be different for every department. The job was very repetitive, you do the same thing for 8 hours.
