Interesting and Unique Work Environment
Art Preparator (Former Employee) –  New York, NYMay 11, 2018
Dynamic work environment with interesting coworkers and fascinating work material. Everyday was different, the days were never boring, and the scope of the work we installed was a dream for an artist, plus helped me to learn about art history in a very hands on way. The hours during an installation are very long, and it gets very tiring, but it's very rewarding work.
Pros
Overtime, paid breaks
Cons
No benefits unless you're there for a long time

Busy work enviornment during the office move
Temporary Employee (Former Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 17, 2017
During the office move there was a lot of packaging of documentation followed by an archival procedure
Scanning documentations & Bar-coding Books
It was important to keep track of tasks from various departments

Overall a great museum to work at
Image Archive Associate (Current Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 13, 2017
overall, the museum is a wonderful place to work - some lack of direction from management, but the staff is wonderful. there is some lack of career advancement depending on what department you are in, but overall the culture of the museum is a good one. It's a small institution so mostly you get to know everyone who works there, which makes the harder parts of the job easier
Pros
staff, benefits, access to good art
Cons
lack of direction

Disconnected Office culture
Intern (Former Employee) –  New YorkMay 27, 2017
The offices are too far from the museum itself, and there is no communication amongst different tiers in the workplace -relatively stiff hierarchy, and not inspiring or collaborative culture
Pros
Free museum entry
Cons
No pay

Not at liberty to say
Contractor (Former Employee) –  New York, NYMay 23, 2017
Refuse to answer. The atmosphere is friendly among most of the employees.

However management is short-sighted, which affects many things like morale and having proper equipment to work with. There is a significant turn-over rate.

More of a typical retail environment.
Retail Associate (Former Employee) –  New York, NYFebruary 26, 2017
Less of an interesting place as far as museums go. Building is interesting. Not many books, mostly pricey gifts. Not as relevant to art or design as you might expect.

The renound Guggenheim Museum might be more than just a job. It seems as if Guggenheim employees obtain a new life position when obtaining a position at the museum.

Great
Image Archive Coordinator (Former Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 9, 2015
I had a wonderful experience working for this world-renowned institution. I was in charge of 100 thousand+ image assets. I was also in charge of the distribution of images through out the museum.

> Good management
> Creative and diverse work environment
> The best part is being a part of a world-class art museum that offers excellent visual art experience to the public and allows its employees to participate as well.

Slave Labor ....Hated it. Except for the one day a week we actually had a field trip to see art. After this experience I NEVER wanted to work in a museum again.
