Meter Technician (Former Employee) –  Asheville, NCJuly 24, 2018
Be sure to read the acceptance letter before signing. Cause thats all you will get is what it says. Anything verbal from hr is just to get you in the door. Lies. They need to be reported to the bbb

It was a job not a career for me
Utility Contractor Tech I (Former Employee) –  OregonJuly 10, 2018
As a lead worker for the Atmospheric Corrosion team I was required to operate independent of immediate supervision as the point for a 6 member team. Projects were fluid and locations varied, sometimes requiring techs to travel upwards of 300 miles a week to complete inspections. Techs were required to keep driving logs, generate incident reports, perform vehicle maintenance and maintain an awareness of real time road conditions. My duties also included facilitating safety meetings, performing re-inspections and conducting weekly Field Performance Evaluations. Communication with project managers via phone, fax and email concerning team logistics, i.e. equipment needs, attendance and production, were central to project completion

A company that invests in it's employees!
Marketing Specialist (Current Employee) –  Peachtree Corners, GAJune 6, 2018
A company with a motivated and fun culture, and a love for investing in their employees. As a young employee, you are given skills, training, and experience to further your career. The hardest part of the job right now is that we are growing so fast - this requires wearing multiple hats at times and working outside of your job role. This is also an advantage, as I have been able to learn different facets of the company and have added multiple tools to my resume. Management is driven and goal-oriented, but also keeps their employees in mind. Southern Cross is an empathetic and family oriented company.
Pros
Training opportunities, flexibility, benefits, pay
Cons
Fast-growing company, so many hats have to be worn

Good job for students and retirees. Not much room for advancement or opportunity. Work is dependent on weather and unsteady. Management is not proactive.

Gas survey (Former Employee) –  Chesapeake, VAFebruary 14, 2018
This job is great if you intend to continue into the gasline field. You need to pass a test early on in order to get the certification. First couple weeks is training, then leads to hands on training which isn't bad but also depends who you walk with. The job is always 7-330. Sometimes mandatory Saturdays. The downside is you cannot work when it rains or high winds. You must be comfortable knocking on random doors to gain access in property.
Pros
Easy job, lots of walking, work alone
Cons
Can't work when it rains or high winds.

Lack of Management
Field Tech (Former Employee) –  Peachtree Corners, GAFebruary 13, 2018
Natural Gas line survey, traveling in an RV, place to place. Walking miles of pipeline daily. As I have worked in a structured environment of Oilfield an Aerospace as an NDT Tech, I did not learn much. Management just wants bodies; robots if you will to make their dreams come true - your dreams so not matter at all. I have seen people quit and be rehired there the next week. The hard part of the job is going from place to place, and putting up with the aggravation of not having the resources to do your job, and losing money each day waiting for the resources. The only enjoyable part of the job was working alone. I have left the company.
Pros
Working alone

People are wishy washy. Don't ever know where you are. No supervision and make you do your own paychecks so they can fire you. Please don't waset your gas and time. Must keep testing and testing with no help on the computer. They will drive your vehicle in the dump. Transmission went out and they didn't even *********. May I say more!
Pros
Its a job
Cons
Too many to write down.

Nice job but poor management and pay.
Gas Survey Technician (Former Employee) –  Norcross, GADecember 27, 2017
Job was a rewarding job. Finding gas leaks making people feel safe. Management on the other hand was very poor. Project managers are very cut throat due to previous owner. New management is the same way. Keeps hiring friends in front office with great salaries but will not give out raises to people in the field. Like pulling teeth to get one. Every job location is different, constant training at almost every location, gets old. No standard for the industry.
Pros
Making people feel safe
Cons
Poor upper and lower management

Most laid back place to work
Electric Meter Installer (Former Employee) –  Waukesha, WIDecember 18, 2017
I really enjoyed working for this company. Unfortunately my health would no longer allow me to work there any more. The supervisors are really understanding when you need time off. They give nice incentives for hard working people. You will enjoy working with this company if you give them a try.

Project Manager (Current Employee) –  Peachtree Corners, GANovember 18, 2017
Great company.
Great management.
Great future.
Great potential for advancement.
Lots of opportunities.
Meeting new and fun people.
Walking on average 10 miles a day.
Outdoor work.
Stress free work place.
Guaranteed pay for bad weather.
Work independently.
You're your own boss.
Just have to be to work on time and not leave until the actual end of day.
My problem is with the lazy employees that think they deserve more.
If you just do your work everyday, it's the best job in the world. SERIOUSLY.
Try to find an easier job, I dare you.
Pros
Work independently, outdoor work, customers and clients.
Cons
No 401k match, low pay, expensive benefits, lazy employees.

Run Fast and don’t look back
Field Technician (Former Employee) –  Birmingham, ALNovember 16, 2017
First of all. They will try to convince you that you will get paid “ For up to 24 hours in inclement weather pay”
Not true!!! Example.... If you are off Monday and Tuesday because of inclement weather, and work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. You get paid for the 3 days you worked... nothing more.
Up to 24 hours means...you will only get paid 24 hours in a week. If you are off Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and work Thursday and Friday. You will only get paid for 24 hours. Two days you worked and one day inclement weather pay. They don’t explain it because they know it turn potential employees away.
Beware of the management in the Birmingham,Alabama are. He is all about what is best for him.
Working alone out in the field sounds great. But you will be micro managed even there. All for 11.50 per hour.
The mileage pay will be scrutinized as well. If you work out of the Birmingham area you will be deducted 40 miles per day. Up to 20 miles each way!!
Beware!!!!
