The most useful review selected by IndeedOverall good place to work. There are drama like any other place, stray from it and avoid it. Micromanaged fairly a bit. Heavy turn around rate it seemed as I saw new and old staff every 3-6 months.

"Great place to work"
Permit Coordinator (Current Employee) - Roanoke, VA - June 1, 2023
I worked for Southern Trust Home Services for over two years. I started out as a CSR and was moved to "permit coordinator" I loved my job and took pride in everything I did. I had a stillborn child April 28th, I was given TWO days of bereavement pay, I was pressured to come back less than a week after having my stillborn child. I gave myself a week and came back. I went to the Dr for a follow up and my Dr wanted to put me out on FMLA as I did just give birth AND lose my child, I mentioned it to management and they were quick to tell me not to do that , said if I needed a day off to just let them know and it wouldn't be held against me. Two weeks later I show up to work just to be told my job had been eliminated. Southern Trust claims to be trustworthy and they are everything but, if you lie and suck a** you are quickly moved up. Poor management.

Could be better
Driver (Former Employee) - Roanoke, VA - May 24, 2023
Descent people. Not real good working conditions . Very expensive for work that does not cost that much. Lots of bosses, lots of different faces. Should be better

Poor management
Permit Clerk/Payroll Representative (Former Employee) - Roanoke, VA - October 20, 2022
A lot of favoritism and was not trained well. Felt like an outcast and was not appreciated by anyone. Worked hard but was making multiple mistakes due to lack of proper training and it was used against me when asked for a raise.

Productive, growing company that is on a mission to change lives for the better
Executive Assistant (Current Employee) - 5205 Starkey Road, Unit B, Roanoke VA 24018 - August 3, 2022
I've learned so much more than I would have anticipated learning at a home service company (I've never worked in this field before.) Working at STHS has given me basic life knowledge that I had never had the chance of learning before. It's given me opportunities to build on my skills and is allowing me to better myself as a person. I am excited to see where STHS takes me in the years to come as I plan on staying for a long time. The management has supported me heavily throughout my career here, not only professionally but also personally.

Fun work culture
Dispatcher (Former Employee) - Remote - December 6, 2021
They have a fun work culture. You get paid well if you put in the work. Management does a good job at keeping the company successful. The benefits were good and the schedule was flexible.

Recognition, opportunities, and care
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Remote - November 16, 2021
I have never worked anywhere that recognizes hard work as much as STHS did. If you dedicate yourself and work hard you will be recognized, and that recognition will lead to opportunities that you may have otherwise thought were not attainable. The company has a family-first attitude. Over the years, I had personal family issues I had to address and the company was always generous with allowing me time to deal with them.

Family environment but long hours
Technician (Former Employee) - Virginia - October 31, 2021
I enjoyed working there, and you could make good money, at times. When new hires came aboard they gave them all the good money making jobs so the new help would see a lot of success right out the gate and be excited and eager for the opportunity then after being there a while I started getting all “ inspections” where you are supposed to do a walk through and note any and all problems in the hopes of making a sale. only problem I had was with sales. Employees were paid commission so it put you in a position where you had to make sales to feed your family. While I’m not proud to admit it, I had to make sales to people, things that they didn’t necessarily need, so I could pay my bills and feed my family. I am very appreciative for the opportunity with them but I never want a job that puts me in that position again.

Employee-first company
Anonymous (Former Employee) - Remote - October 26, 2021
Good place to work, employees came first, and as long as you’re willing to work hard, you could make a lot of money. My family appreciated the work-life balance the job offered us.

Jobs at Southern Trust Home Services
Great people, horrible management
Director of Operations (Former Employee) - Roanoke, VA - October 20, 2021
Company is poorly run and management is dishonest. Rules and processes are constantly changing and turnover rate is extremely high as a result. I would NOT recommend.

Service Technician
Service Technician (Current Employee) - Remote - October 18, 2021
I wish I’d found this opportunity earlier in my career. As a service tech, I have the opportunity to help individuals improve their greatest investment: their homes. I have nothing but great things to say about the company. I’m treated fairly, compensated fairly, and have a flexible work schedule. If you’re looking for a great opportunity in Roanoke, Virgina, I’d recommend you give Southern Trust Home Services a shot.

Perfect place to build a career
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Remote - October 6, 2021
This is an amazing company to work at with an awesome management team. They offer the support and training I need to succeed in my position. The compensation plan is good, with excellent benefits, 401K, vacation time, etc.

Supportive and helpful management
Employee (Current Employee) - Remote - September 23, 2021
Our work assignments are always very reasonable. The company promotes any training available and offers assistance. Supportive team environment. Can’t name any difficulties of the job. The current group of employees seems to be well-chosen and very competent.

Good company for hard-working people
Service Technician (Current Employee) - Remote - June 8, 2021
It’s the culture that really stands out here. Everyone who’s hired on is a good, honest, hard-working person. It’s a nice, drama-free company where you come in, do your work, and clock out at the end of the day without any fuss. It’s just a wholesome, good environment for wholesome, good, hard-working people.

Everything you could want in a job
HVAC Technician (Current Employee) - Remote - June 1, 2021
In my opinion, Southern Trust has everything you could want from the company you work for: You’re paid well, You’re treated with respect, You’re always given a heads up about important changes, and You’re given plenty of autonomy in your role. There’s a lot to love and not much to hate.

Parts Runner (Former Employee) - Roanoke, VA - May 30, 2021
Gained a lot of useful work experience here. Training was excellent and I learned even more while on the job. Would recommend to anyone wanting to work in home repairs (even if you don’t have a lot of experience already).

A Plus
Former Employee (Former Employee) - Remote - May 25, 2021
I like to keep things simple, so I’m going to “grade” my experience at Southern Trust the same way I was graded as a kid. Pay & benefits: A+ Work-life balance: A+ Company culture: A+ Co-workers: A+ Management: A+ If you’re wondering why I left, well keep wondering. That’s none of your business.

Really good job keeping up with all the COVID changes and regulations
Management did an excellent job this past year of handling the COVID-19 pandemic. They were quick to respond to regulations and mandates and communicated every new change and obstacle with the rest of us and made sure everyone was on the same page. As long as I did what they told us, I had nothing to worry about.
