I was so excited to start work in the mental health field as a recent college graduate. I thought this was a fantastic opportunity, but I was very very wrong. It is truly upsetting because the kids deserve more than what they get. The staff is cliquey and it feels like being in high school again. There is strong favoritism, and borderline abuse of the children. It truly is upsetting.

Upper management show favoritism, very unprofessional and will gossip about employees. Abuse is always being covered up. The therapists here don’t even have the degrees or license to be therapists. You’ll be expected to constantly work over time, you will get mandated to work another shift and if you don’t you will get written up. Constantly out of ratio with no help. Workers will lie on paperwork and not report everything so it looks like the kids are making progress to get them out. Very low pay with a couple cent raises

The opportunity to work with the children with special needs and a chance to give them the love and caring understanding they need. It has given me the opportunity to learn of myself as well and be more compassionate in the world in general

Very poor working environment. You are definitely a disposable asset to the company. You'll be pressured into working a ton of overtime (whether you want it or not) because the company cannot keep employees because of how badly they treat them. They house patience there like cattle while the doctors rapid cycle them on medication.

If you like never being able to use your aquired hours, this is for you. If you want to be told "if you want a vacation you have to cover your own shifts to use your hours". "WE WONT BE HONORING HOLIDAY REQUESTS" but will spend our holidays at home with our families. You dont get a yearly bonus. Its a Hoodie that costs about 30 bucks. Not only that but expect a ten center yearly raise, ontop of being lied to about how much you will make depending on how they feel about you. You might get 50 cents after 30 days you might get 34. If you need to call off because youre sick with doctors excuses you need to cover your own shift. They will threaten you to give all your medical info and the excuse. They will harass you until you go back to work. You will be threatened and you will not be allowed to use any sick days as well if you need to. IF YOU NEED A BEREAVEMENT DAY YOU HAVE TO SHOW THEM THE OBITUARY so they can research if youre actually related or not. If you have any need to change your schedule or time you work there is no way you will get your schedule changed. If you dont have kids expect to never be allowed to do anything but come to work, no excuses. You get treated like absolute dirt by the employees that are highschool clique like. If you want an absolutely unreal amount of favoritism, this is for you. Some can do whatever without retaliation, you need something youre getting in trouble for leaving work because your cat died. If you want to be scolded literally every day you walk into the building this is also for you. If you feel like you want to never advance in the company, this is for you. If you want people to never respond to restraints because they "don't like you" or "dont feel like going", this is for you. If you want to be pawned jobs that aren't even in your job description this is for you. If you want to feel like you're about to lose your mind, this job is for you. If you want rumors that are 100% false to go around the entire company this is for you. Not even human resources cares about your issues. Manangement is terrible, biased, and just as immature as 75% of the employees. If you enjoy being scolded for wrong doings infront of all your co workers and the patients and clients this is for you.. YOUR RISK OF MANDATING IS 91/100% AND THERE IS NO ROTATION. JUST BIASED TOWARDS CERTAIN PEOPLE. IF SOMEONE CALLS OFF 24 TIMES A MONTH THEY HAVE NO REPROCUSSIONS BUT YOU WILL GET A FINAL WARNING FOR REFUSING 20 OF 24 MANDATIONS. The only redeemable part of this job is the children. But even that isn't enough to stay in this toxic work environment I promise. YOU DONT GET HAZARD PAY. YOU DONT GET EXTRA MONEY. YOU DONT GET PAID IF YOU GET COVD 19. YOU DONT GET SICK DAYS. YOU DONT GET HOSPITAL VISITS.
