Cultivating partnerships with rescue & animal control entities,

We depend upon local donations to support our efforts to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats in our community and receive no funding from state or federal agencies, or from the ASPCA (a completely separate entity).

Our success is due to the efforts of numerous dedicated SPCA Albrecht Center employees and volunteers as well as the generous donations and continued support of our community.

Watch out
The shelter aspect of the SPCA is amazing. The vet care center on the other hand is not. The Dr and lead vet assistant are extremely toxic and yell at people. When issues with management are brought up it gets swept under the rug. Management also picks out certain employees as favorites. When I started there was a great atmosphere and employees all got along and encouraged each other. Now it has g...

Toxic work environment
Terrible work culture. Toxic. Terrible management that will use and abuse you. Not worth the salary or benefits. Maybe now that the vet care center has imploded things will improve but I doubt it. Run, don’t walk.

Went from so busy we were lucky to get a lunch break to lucky if we were even hoped to work so we got paid.
For a few years we were so busy we would work long hours with no lunch break. Then we had a drastic change where we were so short staffed we couldn’t keep the clinic open & everyone had to use what little PTO we already received just to get any check at all. Sadly I personally had to leave because I needed an actual check. I believe the SPCA vet center could be great, they just need better managem...

Fun, productive, organized.
This has been one of the best jobs I have ever had. The staff were amazing as well as the management. When I needed help I was given it. When I asked for ways to improve, my manager worked with me to help me. I loved working with the animals and fully intend on volunteering!

I feel appreciated, helpful and needed by a team that is spectacular! The most difficult part of the job is as any job in vet care, helping people make choices to allow their pet to pass over the rainbow bridge.
