Director of Health Information (Current Employee) –  Monroe, LAFebruary 20, 2018
Great place to work with good people. The environment is laid back. A person could learn many things working here. A typical day at work is normally pretty fast paced.

Part Time Respiratory Therapist (Former Employee) –  La Mirada, CAFebruary 7, 2018
A fast pace environment. Good team to work with. Opportunities to intubate a skill most therapist do not get to use. You must know your patients and be available in a case of emergency. Time management is key in being able to perform your task and be available to take on new tasks when called up on.
Pros
Good place to gain experience for new starters
Cons
not much room for advancement

Patient Care Technician (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLDecember 15, 2017
Worked as a pct, nurses never assisted. Way too many patients for one tech to take care of that were total care. The environment is dirty, unsanitary.

Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLDecember 13, 2017
The hardest part of job occurs when staffing was inadequate. This added more pressure on the staff. Working with limited staff was a problem for most of the nursing staff in the facility,
Pros
developed a good working relationship with physicians and other members of healthcare team.
Cons
poor health benefits.

Productive working at this facility . I’ve learned a lot in terms of working at bedside nursing.
LPN (Current Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLDecember 2, 2017
Works on day shift 12 HRs. An LTAC facility with vent/ trach patients , with wounds and respiratory issues. Handles 4- 5 pts. Per shift. Doing wound care , insertion of INT and drawing blood if needed. Sometimes assigned in telemetry room if under staff Management wise is likely satisfactory.collaborates with multi cultures environment. The hardest part of the job is when your College is going to another facility for advancement of their career.the most enjoyable part is when the management able to appreciate their staffs and giving them incentives.
Pros
Giving us meals on special holidays etc. Christmas lunch
Cons
We have 30 minutes lunch and 15 min. Coffee break

Specialty was a nice place to work. It was a relaxed atmosphere with good employees. I decided to retire and look for something on a part time basis; since the hospital had been sold.
Pros
Decent work hours and benefits.
Cons
Low rate of pay. FNS was a training location for FNS manager.

Unit Secretary/Scheduler (Former Employee) –  Newnan, GAAugust 28, 2017
Concept and employees and great, however management is where the problem begins. Lack of experience and interaction with employees leave them not in touch with reality. Schedules overbooked and jobs are so packed with duties and responsibilities each day employee leaves exhausted and overwhelmed which leaves room for errors.
Get a new owner and this place would be great!!
Pros
Great concept
Cons
Not meeting expections for employees, management lacks and owner is out of touch!

Things change from day to day just as other healthcare facilities. At the end of the day, we all have to do what is best for ourselves as well as the business operation.

This company is a one one person for themself and them self only. Don't look for any help from anyone. A lot of gossip and drama in the workplace. A lot of wanting you to do extra but not appreciative.

It is a cutthroat environment where you trust someone only to your detriment.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (Former Employee) –  Fort Thomas, KYApril 25, 2017
The LTACH is chronically understaffed, and management doesn't really care. They spend most of their time trying to figure out how to cover up obvious deficiencies. Allegedly everything is being done to increase successful patient outcomes but that's just the public face. In reality Select is first and foremost primarily interested in maximum profit at minimal outlay. The patients and clinicians take a backseat to profitability and avoiding lawsuits.
Pros
Pay is decent.
Cons
Short staff, high acuity, inexperience management team, arbitrary rule following, harsh discipline, paper charting, and an everyman for himself atmosphere.

PCT (Patient Care Technician) (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLJanuary 13, 2017
Overall it's a great place to work at but upper management is high tide there, watch you like a hawk and people tell in you for dumb stuff. Orientation is forever long. You'll learn a lot of stuff here. Pay isn't so great. A lot of policies to follow.
Pros
Team work
Cons
Upper management

Nursing Assistant (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville Beach, FLAugust 21, 2016
Working there in the beginning was awesome team work, lots of patients, enough staff with knowledge of their job. Now the blind is leading the blind everything is micromanaged. Management watches cameras like its big brother. Hours are cut due to unusually low census. Two many chiefs but few Indians pay was okay but whats that if you don't have any patients. Workers are trained on the job without any legit certification to ensure that your training would absolutely benefit them.
Pros
Micromanaged, hours varies, food nasty and expensive
Cons
Pay, parking and some staff

Occupational Therapist (Current Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLJune 21, 2016
I have been working as an Occupational Therapist at Specialty Hospital for over 12 years. The people I work with on a daily basis have been like family and offer support in treatment ideas, assisting in co treatments when needed for improving the patient functional status. I have interacted with all disciplines for communicating care of the patients and planning discharges. My experiences at this facility have improved my clinical skills, critical thinking and time management over the years.
Pros
flexible work schedule, good pay and beneifts
Cons
decreased staff at times

Patient Sitter (Current Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLApril 9, 2016
The training was terrible (5 weeks for 3 shifts a week) and sometimes I ended up having to fill in for another position because the hospital was short handed. 12 hour shifts are hard to work. It was a fast paced job and I would say the hardest part was trying to read the doctor's writing to put the orders into the system. I do not feel like I was given the tools to succeed.
Pros
I got a paycheck.
Cons
kept getting hours cut, long hours, training was terrible
