Fun place to work
Hair Stylist (Former Employee) - Pearland, TX - November 28, 2023
Good place to work especially if you are just starting out. Tips make up half your paycheck so it's nice getting those. The classes that they send you to are really informative.

Just basic, might be good if you're fresh out of school
Stylist (Former Employee) - Clarksville, TN - November 26, 2023
Haircuts are really too cheap, they want loyalty to the company not the stylist. You'll have to move everyday. Knockouts the competitor is definitely a better place to work. You have the freedom to shampoo your clients how you want too, as well as cut how you choose. They want you to cut hair like a basic stylist out of hair school. No adding texture, no advanced techniques, just cookie cutter. Good hair mill to learn how to cut fast and perfect your skill if you choose
Cons
Really low pay, even with tips and commission. If you haven't started out there, I wouldn't recommend

Very busy
Hair Stylist (Former Employee) - Meridian, ID - November 24, 2023
This location was very busy which was good for tips but it was very difficult to go up on the pay scale when I was there. It’d be not hitting one of your goals or another.

Busy and Nice Pay
Stylist (Former Employee) - Weslaco, TX - November 23, 2023
For the most part it is busy so you'll be able to gain tips. Tips are paid every week to a specific card that is provided to you. Hourly pay is alright. Bonus is nice, but you have to work hard for it and your numbers drop drastically if there are no incoming clients. Management is difficult to rate since the store doesn't have a manager on site.

Sports clips is not a good work environment
Barber/Stylist (Former Employee) - Lynnwood - November 21, 2023
Worst place I ever worked, manager never there. Understaffed and over worked and little pay. Unrealistic timing for services and horrible hours. Manager has all the good shifts and talks down to employees and orders them around. Stay away, single mom and they slashed my hours because I asked to not have all closing shifts.
Pros
None it sucks
Cons
Bad work life balance

Not worth it
Toxic, of course. The people put in charge to care, don’t seem to care. Store is a constant mess, don’t want you to take breaks and expect you to run like a robot. I know first hand, there are better-run Sport Clips stores. Don’t waste your time or energy.

So many internal problems
Hairdresser (Former Employee) - Casper, WY - November 19, 2023
The way it’s ran within the store is so unprofessional and caddy. I wish employees themselves had more access to upper management so they felt like they had a voice. It was hard to go against in store management when they’re the only ones who talk to the higher up management and owners. I would feel appreciated one day than the next completely unappreciated. There’s no consistency in the schedule and hours. I did a great job was personable had great numbers and they would always find something to complain about. Also Management should be much more skilled in their cutting. And customers are not appreciated like they should be either.
Pros
On busy days the only people you dealt with were your clients
Cons
The atmosphere is extremely negative caddy and artificial

Not for me
Stylist (Former Employee) - San Diego, CA - November 19, 2023
You feel like a robot. Not much training. Too much Emphasis on sales and upselling. You feel like a robot. Favoritism on managers from the higher-up over the employees.. Can be decent pay

It all depends
Hair Stylist (Current Employee) - Forney, TX - November 18, 2023
I think Sport Clips is a great concept. It’s all about catering to the haircare needs of men and boys in a comfortable and fun environment. They emphasize treating everyone with dignity and respect. It’s just hard to find and keep good managers. A good manager who treats her team members well and understands their needs will create a positive work environment A manager who cares about nothing but numbers will will make her team members feel overworked and under appreciated (like my current manager). It all depends on the owners and managers. They need to realize that happy employees will keep customers happy. Unhappy employees don’t care either way.
Pros
Great customers, tips, comfortable uniforms
Cons
No paid holidays

I would not go back
Hairstylist/Cosmetologist (Former Employee) - Florida - November 17, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Large Customer base. Always busy so great tips What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Meeting goals weekly from retail to satisfaction ratings. All of these are tied to your pay and hours scheduled What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Friendly and professional. Mostly all male clientele

Lots of clients but it’s biweekly and not enough pay
Cosmetologist (Former Employee) - Wellington, FL - November 16, 2023
A lot of extra work like laundry, cleaning when it’s not the job of a stylist we’re not janitors. The amount of clients is good but management is not good with scheduling it’s on paper not organized at all, sometimes the clients are super rude so be ready for that and being paid biweekly and not enough pay for the job. Also you have to write “stats” everyday on the board for literally no reason. You get paid extra if you sell items but they’re men and most of them don’t want to buy anything or give a tip. What also really sucks is you have to take a mandatory “break/lunch” if there’s clients you have to stop because the manager says so and you lose out on money, it’s also only cash tips allowed in the salon.
Pros
Lots of clients
Cons
Management and pay

Just okay
Stylist (Former Employee) - Nashville, TN - November 14, 2023
Great place to start. Challenging to hit commission goals. Lack of leadership in management. Base pay is too low. Haircut costs should be higher in some locations per market value.

Toxic and unappreciative
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - Arkansas - November 8, 2023
Worked there for almost 7 years. Too long of a time looking back. I worked my butt off for them striving to achieve their standards and goals above and beyond ,only to be spoken down to by higher ups. They don’t give a ___ about their stylists. You’re Expected to bend over backwards for the company no exceptions. And in return they give you a pizza 2x a year. Took so much time away from my family working for them. Don’t expect to see them correct a bad employee who messes up at every turn, but they will jump on a great employee the first second they make a mistake. Know your worth and save yourself the time.

What is the best part of working at the company? good for beginners as they give training , but sadly shows favoritism What is the most stressful part about working at the company? they think standard temp for working should be 73-75 , which is to hot for in the valley What is the work environment and culture like at the company? more woman based because shop caters to men and boys What is a typical day like for you at the company? steady flow but many want other barbers

Coworkers were happy to help and and show techniques to new employees. With training, it took a lot out of me going to deferent locations just to finish up training.
