Good to R&D employees

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Good culture of not overworking and burning out, healthy work life balance encouraged. It can be difficult to move up, but I like that moving up isn't automatic based on seniority, and that the culture isn't hierarchical and overly focused on your job title or level. You are able to and expected to contribute at any level. Teams feel self driven and independent, not a lot of top-down oversight.

A company with low pay and little to no experienced managers

Depending on the team you're part of there are inexperienced managers and leaders. If you don't stroke the egos of the right people, your job will be on the line. The compensation is not competitive and if you want to work at a company that over-compensates with "company culture" to cover the low pay and you can afford to live paycheck-to-paycheck then this is the perfect company for you. The company lacks diversity and it's rare that BIPOC employees are promoted to leadership positions unfortunately the majority of the company tends to keep BIPOC employees in lower-level positions. Also, don't bother working hard because it's not recognized depending on your team. The inexperienced manager that I, unfortunately, had was almost always "loud and wrong" (i.e. speaking in meetings just to speak but never adding value).

Cons

Inexperienced managers/leaders, pay is low and not competitive

Spotify

Great culture, office life, and benefits.interesting industry but not many opportunities for career progression/promotion. Would still highly recommend Spotify as a great company to work for.

Great place to work, awesome benefits! Great teams, collaboration and growth opportunities. I was able to use the skills I learned at Spotify at a new employer as the HR Manager.

Great work environment but lack of direction

Loved working at Spotify, highly enjoyed my time. Had great co workers but felt constant re-orgs and changes in direction without transparency to be disorienting

Fun workplace, cool domain

Great people, a cool domain and pre-pandemic/ IPO a lot of great perks. Work culture has frayed some and top-down management has compounded the problem. Still a fun job

Pros

Trips to Sweden, great perks, good people, great tech infra

Cons

Comp is a little low, raises are low, re-orgs every six months

Great environment for creatives and business minded individuals

Enjoyed every moment at Spotify, colleagues were very helpful, culture was welcoming, and my everyday task were very manageable. The company prioritizes their employees in every aspect.

Pros

Free lunches, smart like-minded individuals, company perks

Fun workplace filled with politics

the culture at Spotify is something like I've never seen at any other company -- the people are truly bright and passionate, but also know how to have fun

Productive and Fun Workplace

Spotify offers great benefits including paternity and maternity leave, flexible workplace options, entertaining workspaces, and free snacks and daily lunches. Spotify encourages diversity and inclusion and provide employees the ability to join internal workplace groups that focus on a variety of important topics that ultimately support the company's culture.

Productive fun place to work with free lunch!

My job as a production manager was to insure that all aspects of the video content were met so that we could go out and shoot the video pieces that need to be shot for the campaign at the time. They work culture is very collaborative but it can also be pretty cut throat as everyone there is fairly young (25-30) and is looking to advance themselves as quick as they can. Coming in as a new person you can feel out of the loop as most people that have been there a while can be very (cliquey). Overall decent place to work, the pay is very competitive, benefits are great and you get free music account!

Great workplace

Great culture to learn and grow in. You have autonomy over your career and they emphasize on driving your own development. Spotify is the best place I've worked thus far.

Great Place to work, a lot of learning happens here

I went in as a Quality Assurance Engineer and left an iOS Developer. The amount of learning you can do from within Spotify is enormous. If you learning something new, you can, and there are people willing to help you level up your skill set and tool box. The people there are what I enjoyed the most working at Spotify. Everyone is super smart and they have deep knowledge of what they were hired to do. But, there are too many in leadership positions and some teams suffer from a lack of direction. Also, depending on your manager, Spotify allows you to "embed" with other teams if you wanted to do something new other than the work on the team you were assigned. Interviewing here, is difficult. If you want to work here, you have to be the best, or know someone close to the team you want to work on.

Pros

Smart people who can mentor you, great culture, great benefits, career advancement

Cons

Too much leadership, not enough direction for products, does not do enough to keep highly talented people on board

Dynamic and fast paced.

Love the culture and the quickness at Spotify. The people are passionate about the product and making the most of their time at work to balance their life outside the company.

Pros

Amazing culture and facilities

Spotify

Fun place to work. Management has a tough time being transparent. Pays very well for the work that is done. The culture is very relaxed and there are always good vibes in the workplace

Fast pace workplace with tons of benefits

fast pace environment causing a very stressful one. work and life balance is hard to attain. responsibilities piled up but compensation was not re evaluated. the work culture is fun and employee focus but only if you have the time to enjoy those benefits.

Pros

free food

Cons

compensation

You'll have fun and be underpaid.

Spotify is awesome, the culture is unmatched, however, the pay is probably some of the lowest in the market. If you can get over that, you'll enjoy the benefits of meeting some of the best in music and working with awesome people.

Design Ops Admin

Overall pretty good work environment and culture, everyone is super innovative and excited about the work they are doing. I think there was some mismanagement with my supervisor but ultimately pretty positive.

Pros

Free lunch, free snacks, multiple work events that were fun and inclusive, ability to travel internationally.

Not what it was

I joined Spotify at a time where we still had that techy-start up feel, although we were 10 years old. It was still a place where although you worked hard, you played harder and there were an abundance of socializing activities that bonded you to your colleagues across the various functions. Management WAS great (they were mostly Swedish) and you truly felt they cared for and helped you professionally (career development) as well as personally if need be. Sadly, this is no longer the case.

Pros

Free lunch, free healthcare

Cons

Paranoid culture. Long hours. Out of touch management.
