In department, I am fortunate enough to get an overall systems level view of the entire spacecraft. I am involved in everything from external configuration to the detailed design of waveguide. As a result, I get a chance to be intimately familiar with a large majority of the subsystems of the spacecraft.
good people, fairly interesting work
slow to change, bogged down by bureaucracy sometimes
Loral is a decent place to work. They have started to listen to their employees a little more about some of the everyday problems that they have with the design of the spacecraft. I think it will be a long road to recovery but the intention seems to be there.
I loved my job but I had no life outside of work. I made the choice to travel to launch base five (plus) times per year. If I had a spouse and children this would be difficult to sustain. I save a lot of money. I enjoyed 80% of my colleagues. The environment was collaborative and enjoyable.
