terrible managers no advancement
Office Nurse, LPN (Current Employee) –  Mt. Vernon, ILMarch 15, 2019
There is no work/life balance. all staff are doing the job of at least 2 employees with no help. Management does not get coverage when other employees call in leaving the employee that showed up to do everyones job. A typical day at work is running around like your head has been cut off trying to get your work done that you can never get done because there is not enough time in the day. Staff is drowning in all the work they have with no one to help. Managers do not care if employees are stressed or cannot complete their work.
Pros
you have a job
Cons
poor management, no work life balance, not enough help, uncaring corporation

Pulmonary Function Technologist (Former Employee) –  St. Louis, MOMarch 7, 2019
Ssm health is a decent organization with some amenities. However, management is weak and is often stymied by processes for which they should know the protocol. Poorly managed.
Pros
Fun job, challenging, stable
Cons
Short breaks, zero latitude re lateness, scheming, back-stabbing by incompetent management

Fun place to work
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) –  Bridgeton, MOMarch 4, 2019
Fun place to learn a lot. Lots of opportunity for job advancement. The hardest part of the job is attending so many meetings. It can be difficult spending time mentoring new nurses, not enough hours in the day.

So So
Contact Center Representative (Former Employee) –  St. Louis, MOMarch 4, 2019
When I first started there, it was wonderful. Management was supportive and understanding. As time went on, they weren’t open for suggestions, not as supportive of employees or the supposed work/life balance facade they put on, staff was not being hired in a timely manner to avoid long hold times and employees constantly felt intimidated by management, as if they could not request to transfer positions without being blocked. It’s definitely not the entire organization just where I worked.
Pros
Free lunches, Service Days, healthcare
Cons
Unsupportive Management, inadequate work life balance

Managerial Upset
Clinical Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Pendleton, ORMarch 3, 2019
During my time here, they had some very disturbing managerial issues and resignations occurred from the top down. I was asked to full fill duties of the acting Clinical Manager without increased compensation and no chance of advancement. It wasn't a good place to work at the time.

Patient Care Technician (PCT) (Former Employee) –  St. Louis, MOFebruary 25, 2019
Flexible with my nursing school schedule. The hardest part of the job was not having enough employees staffed for a safe patient to nurse (Patient Care Technician) ratio and you feel like you are always trying to catch up.

Certain departments have good and positive managers who listen to you and respect your opinions.
Pros
Staff recognition and complimentary beverage / snack cart on hard days
Cons
Lack of Management Interaction

I truly enjoyed my time at SSM Health. The training was wonderfully thorough. If and when problems arouse, management was there immediately to help with a solution. There are several opportunities for growth and change within the company.

Overall, SSM Health is a good place to work offering good benefits, fulfilling work and pleasant colleagues. However, the company seems to be in a constant state of culture shifts and restructuring which can be overwhelming and frustrating over time.

Building Assistant (Current Employee) –  St. Louis, MOFebruary 10, 2019
SSM is good place to work. Schedule meetings to the appropriate calendar and maintain eleven meeting room calendars across a campus. Handle incoming calls from a switchboard and transfer calls accordingly. Provide building inspections on monthly basis, schedule issues that are found with maintenance personal and check on those items. If needed follow up with an item not taken care of.
