What is the best part of working at the company? My coworkers, constant rotation and meals provided. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Poor management, hard to get ahold of the manager or director. The Lead was always available for questions and to help. Being expected to preform duties o wasn't trained for. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Unrealistic expectations from management. Workers are a supportive group for the most part. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Sign in, get your supplies, get your middles done (pull trash in public areas, clean public restrooms, high dust hallways, dust hallways and mop hallways.
At South Austin Medic Center (SAMC) the Imaging Department has been decimated by people leaving and getting poached by other hospital systems. The bad part is management is numb to people leaving now, as if it doesn't even come as a surprise. Obviously, the higher ups (bean counters) don't care that the Imaging Department hemmorages staff. Many people leave for a higher base pay and less stress. The hospital is a great place to gain experience, however, the pay is the lowest in Austin. A person will work so long for a low wage in a high pace high stress environment. The patient population is very demanding, especially, being a Level 2 trauma center. Plus, the location off the 35 and 290 makes it an easy stop for patients. My Co-Workers are amazing! We all understand that our work is hard and do a lot to help one another out. When someone decides to leave we all understand. My managers do try but they don't control the pay scale, so unless HR and Upper Management decides to increase their base pay scale other hospitals will continue to poach the staff.
RT dept welcoming , good teamwork. RN's are respectful towards RT's and very good and kind. STNA's are great! Overall one of my favorite places to work. People have fun working together. Patients are thankful and appreciative. Great working culture.
What is the best part of working at the company? Worked for 21 years before moving to South Texas RGV. Had a great time working in the ED with caring employees. This was at STGH. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Every job has some stress, but you have to deal with it. You have to like and love what you do. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? All good. I made it work for me. What is a typical day like for you at the company? No two days are the same.
Under-paid and Over-Worked: that is the true motto of this company. Management is worried about quotas and pushing turn around times. There is no urgency to take care of staff. Management does not help with assisting on getting the job done- they stay far away from helping staff or patients. You will never see them get their hands dirty. NAMC will definitely make you understand you’re only a body and not a true asset. This hospital has a super high turn over. Burn out is real within months, especially at this location. CT has 2 scanners average 60-100 exams a day.
