Decent pay

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The pay was decent, but the welders are treated like royalty, and management doesnt seem to care about anyone else. The work is dirty with alot of heavy lifting, but easy to learn with little to no prior experience.

Pros

Decent pay.

Cons

Dirty, alot of physicality, and preferential treatment towards welders.

I'm not sure who wrote the bad reviews but they wrong. Great place to work.

Great place to work, good pay, working conditions, employee benefits, employee recognition parties, great management. Honestly one of the better places I have worked. Even worked around a health problem that came up

Pros

Pay, hours, people

Cons

Honestly can't think of one..

Awesome General Manager - Owner a nightmare

The GM was wonderful to work for. Very supportive and fair. The owner was very difficult. Would only come a few times a year but turned everyone upside down. Would change processes and job duties without consideration of the managers and employees. He would also fire people just because he wanted to, nothing to do with job performance. The employees are a great group of people. Great place to work if you can avoid dealing with the owner!

Pros

Awesome coworkers

Cons

The owner

Not a long-term career environment.

Work-life balanceThey don't give raises. The owner liked to push his political and religious beliefs on his employees.Pay & benefitsThey never give raises.Job security and advancementEmployee turnover is extremely highOverallPoor pay. Poor management. The employees there are great. Unfortunately the same can't be said about management. They are focused on company profitability at the expense of the hard work of their employees. Which sadly isn't rewarded.

Good company, bad owner

Work-life balanceLaid back company, flexible with hoursPay & benefitsThere is never a great Healthcare system for any company but SPS was one of the worst ive experiencedJob security and advancementAt will employer whos owner will fire you at the drop of a dime and will give you no reason as to why. Advancement only based on the unlucky employee that was let go before you.ManagementManagement was a good group of people that will help you in anyway possible. Hands are tied when owner "visits" has everyone on edge and put unrealistic demands on departments just to leave, come back a few months later and change everything backCultureEasy-going company, no safety program, hazmat program or proper trainingOverallSPS has a great work environment, employees are all good guys and you dont hate going to work everyday. Able to wear shorts throughout whole shop welders and fabricators alike. Not osha certified, all training is basic tribal knowledge they may have standard operating procedures but they are rarely if ever followed. Maintenance is a nightmare for 1 person to handle. They say Preventative Maintenance but its much more than that and workload is unrealistic to keep up with in a timely manner. Besides all that and the Owner i did however enjoy my time at SPS and unfortunately would recommend it to someone who is looking for a job.

Decent people.

Decent people. Opportunities to fill several different roles in the Engineering department. General manager at time of posting always treated me fairly.

Small company, zero advancement, zero job security

Being such a small company, you have to fit in with those that work there. There's no, and I mean zero ability for advancement. If you make mistakes, it's quickly and easily attributed to you, so if you don't fit in...you're out. I've worked at other places where I thought turn over was bad...but this place is about as bad as I've ever seen. There's little to no feedback given. I bet most of the people let go have little to no idea why they've been let go. If you're desperate for a job, this place will do. Do your job, keep to yourself, but keep looking for something better and quick.

No enough to do

Not enough work to fill the day. People were nice and friendly for the most part. Management was very willing to train and answer questions of any nature.

Pros

Nice people

Good place to work if you stay under the radar of the owner

I've enjoyed good professional growth at Stainless Piping Specialists. They've attracted many good people who are well-qualified at what they do. They also recognize talents and encourage professional growth. The only downside is that the company's owner has said that he doesn't like to keep anyone in engineering for longer that two years (things may have changed in the last 6 years. maybe not). I had heard him say this on 2 separate occasions, and I heard it from 3 different people on other occasions. Nobody understands his reasons for not keeping product knowledge around. The owner is also very capricious - he'll make a change merely for the sake of change. Other than the owner, the management is very good and helpful. The culture and communications between the front office and manufacturing is good.

Pros

Relaxed, good work environment

Cons

Capriciousness of the owner
