Lovely Coworkers
ICU RN (Current Employee) - Palo Alto, CA - September 21, 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPros: The hospital is beautiful and technology is up to date. Coworkers are great and helpful. There’s lots of critical care needs/experience for nurses. The pay is great. Cons: Micromanaging, though management is nice. Prioritizing float/resource and education opportunities to nurses by seniority regardless of how helpful they are. Constantly working with new providers, as it’s a teaching hospital, so trusting relationships aren’t maintained. Loss of autonomy that RNs have at other hospitals. End of life/comfort care are not a priority and the variety of different providers tend give mixed messages/false hope to families.

Very Busy and Toxic Workplace Environment
Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Former Employee) - Palo Alto, CA - September 21, 2023
Not enough staff for the given workload. Which causes employees to feel overwhelmed and overworked. Staff isn’t friendly and don’t work well as a team. Every department has a different workplace environment. Hopefully you luck up on a department that is welcoming and friendly.

The stress out weighs the pay and benefits
Medical Assistant Float Pool (Former Employee) - Pleasanton, CA - September 11, 2023
Management is horrible !!! After you go for a week of training in Newark , the training doesn’t give you what you truly need to know. Then they put you with a Doctor and you are on your own!!! They ACT like they want to help you but they really don’t . VERY toxic!! The place is very clicky.

Great co-workers and management.
Clinical Nurse II (Former Employee) - Palo Alto, CA - September 7, 2023
I loved working for Stanford. I only left because I had to relocate for my husband's job. I had amazing, supportive co-workers here, and I felt supported by management as well. I definitely grew as a nurse here and there are so many resources available to patients, so I got to learn more as well. I always felt I had everything I needed to do my job. The pay is also unbeatable. Lots of room for growth and change within the Stanford system as well.

Money was okay but…
RN (Former Employee) - Palo Alto, CA - September 5, 2023
Did a contract with them and felt like I was thrown to the sharks! Had to figure a lot out on my own, caused a lot of stress that could have easily been handled with proper information. Some work was remote and had to figure out how to contact coworkers on my own.

Great community hospital with academic affiliation and high standards
Registered Nurse (RN) (Current Employee) - Pleasanton, CA - September 4, 2023
Started my nursing career at Stanford Tri-Valley hospital, wonderful nurse residency program. Love the smaller community vibe at this hospital (Stanford bought it in 2015), everyone knows each other here, and the staff nurses are all very supportive and great teamwork, but also how the hospital is evolving and growing to have higher standards like the main Stanford campus. Patients benefit from this tight knit hospital, but also have access to world class care and treatments. Highly recommend!

Poor Management, Good Benefits
Security Officer II (Current Employee) - 300 pasteur dr, Stanford - August 31, 2023
Pay is decent, not enough for what we do. Benefits are great. Management tries to act like they care about you but they mainly only care for themselves and their favorites. Very difficult to choose your shift, even after working here for several years

Management Needs Work
Medical Assistant (Former Employee) - Palo Alto, CA - July 7, 2023
A lot of gossip management has a lot of favoritism. New people don't tend to last since the veterans are cliquey. The benefits and pay are good but the stress doesn't seem worth it.

It could have been better if only qualified management would have been more aware of the hostile environment
RN Staff Nurse II (Current Employee) - Pleasanton, CA - July 6, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? the patients are amazing to work with What is the most stressful part about working at the company? the gossiping, the lack of help and structure What is the work environment and culture like at the company? in the department I worked in, the supervisor played favoritism, and sadly to the fungus of the office, so sad What is a typical day like for you at the company? I guess everyone's experience will be different; mine is - I started at the wrong time when there was a lack of structure and guidance, with new individuals in their positions

Poor Management needs to practice CI CARE
Lab Assistant III (Current Employee) - Palo Alto, CA - July 3, 2023
I am very disappointed with my work environment at the moment. I love what I do in my day to day job but the people who work there are making it difficult to work comfortably. A lot of gossip. Favoritism. Wasting time about gossip within the department rather than focusing on patient care. Poor management. Managers have favorites. Managers have no CI CARE. they have a reputation for getting employees fired simply because they don’t like them. I was pretty surprised with Stanford and how the work environment feels like high school all over again. People here are totally focused on the wrong things. Very sad to witness considering the lives of patients are in our hands although we are in a laboratory setting not working face to face with patients we are still caring for them behind the scenes. As we should, right? Well this department loves wasting time and delaying care due to their insecurities reeking up the place unnecessarily reflecting that onto others who do their job and are actually there to take their job seriously. I’m so fed up with the unfairness that the pay $$$$ I’m getting, is not even worth it at this point. I’m definitely applying elsewhere. It’s just not worth it working in a unhealthy environment. I rather get paid less elsewhere and be treated fairly and much happier.
Cons
Favoritism, Unprofessionalism, Gaslighting, poor management, also instigating managers trying to make others do their dirty work for them

I have work with Stanford for years I request to continue to work remote due to my condition
Utilization Management Coordinator (Current Employee) - Newark, CA - July 1, 2023
They do not wanted me to . I feel that management is interest in what they want not what the staff want, even though I have been here the longest . I feel like my older staff was forced to retire. Bad management you’re welcome to contact me . I would love to discuss further
Pros
Good team before
Cons
Bad management but think they are doing good.

Typical
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Pleasanton, CA - June 14, 2023
Poor management and a whole bunch of gossips. A number of out of date MDs using old protocols endangering patients. Thought Stanford takeover would help, it didn't.
