Café Supervisor (Per Diem) (Former Employee) – Roosevelt Island, NY – November 14, 2018
STARR CATERING is a contracted food service company with many different locations. The location where I was hired to be a part of management was poorly managed by the person I reported to. Management sat with regular employees and disclose confidential information about other workers. From my experience at the location where I once work, if you are someone who takes your job seriously starr 's is not the place for you. If you do your job too well, you possibly might be laid off with no proper reasoning.
Cook/Prep (Former Employee) – Massachusetts – August 13, 2018
Our chef is huge on making people look and feel bad,not professional, loves to call everybody out and make a fool of people, can't talk professionally in the office between two people.i'm guessing that makes him feel, good about himself. You can cut the tension with a knife!blames new people for the veterans messups and laziness.very uncomfortable work place.pins and needles.
Kitchen Staff (Current Employee) – Philadelphia, PA – November 27, 2017
I learned that a decent schedule isn't worth the amount of aggravation this job causes. Poor management. The hardest part of the job is doing everyone else's work when they call off almost daily without consequences. Favorites are played, and they run us into the ground with the amount of work they expect us to get done in the amount of time they give us.
Great atmosphere, top notch food and hospitality, towards guest and employees.
Front of House Server (Current Employee) – Miami, FL 33132 – July 7, 2017
A typical work day, is often times smooth and goes by in a timely fashion, exceptions include weather issues and external restrictions. I've learned a lot from this job, and its changed my perspective in many aspects. People, diversity, food, and life in general. Management is great, everyone is treated equally and held accountable for their actions, which creates a work environment flourishing with productivity. The hardest part of the job for me was to not over indulge in the food, and if anyone knew how delicious it was, they understood. The most enjoyable part of the job, was experiencing the whole event after setting it up, and the food!
Server/waiter (Current Employee) – Philadelphia, PA – June 10, 2017
awesome fast paced environment, very friendly but very demanding. you must be 110% committed to the task set before. they are extremely detailed oriented which will only make one a better employee, just arrive prepared to work and you will enjoy your experience.
Customer Service & Supervisor (Former Employee) – Philly, nyc, dc – June 4, 2017
This is a terrcompany. Unorganized and not supportive with any concerns. Abusive manager (Ed). Dangerous working conditions, ex. Lifting over 50lbs on wet slippery tile floors. Using and outdoor propane heater indoors. Never made a schedule and call late in the day (every day) to be up and at work at 5am. The list could go on. Worst experience I've ever had. If you are looking for a job, stay away from the poorly run business.
