Child Development Specialist in San Jose, CA

This company has made improvements over the years, but it still needs more work to be done. It's a good place to build your skills and to get your foot in the door. You will learn a lot from your supervisors and other child development specialists. There is a very high turn over. Lot of people tends to work for less than a year and leaves. Especially the ones that are obtaining their BCBA and stays for a couple or few months and leaves. The pay is not very good. They do give you a pay raise once a year, depending on your evaluation. And for mileage, they follow the IRS rate which is not enough for the expensive gas prices.Every since the pandemic, they laid off a lot of people and they are always under staff. It is a problem for all ABA companies.

My main lead is friendly and truly cares about me and the clients. The scheduling, hr, payroll departments and so insanely mismanaged,m. it seems there is no accountability at all. They take on all these clients when there are not enough therapists or office people to support all these families. You are completely on your own as an employee, if you need anything from the office you are gonna have to pester them relentlessly to get anything done. Its sad becuase its the families are the ones that suffer. This company just wants to collect from the insurance company, the families come second.

They will reel you in and promise a nice and stable work environment with the ruse of care and support. This is absolutely not the case! Employees are not cared for and all that really matters is what they can get out of you.Want a promotion, or a raise? Forget about it because you will not get that there. The COO acts like she cares but only wants to work you into oblivion without true consideration of your actual life. The admin staff are overworked and grossly underpaid!

Very inflexible company and you are always being micromanaged even if you are self-driven and delivering. Requesting a day off or an accommodation is such a big deal for management. Weird work environment. Too bad because I enjoyed the work assigned…
