Must be good at cold calling
If you are good at finding your own leads and cold calling this is a good fit for you, otherwise you spend a lot of time collecting payments. Not a lot of lead support.

State Farm was an office job. It paid well and they are a good company. Nothing bad to say besides the job could get boring. But I also worked in a call center environment so that’s a given!

Great benefits package. Health insurance deductible is lower than most companies ($1500 deductible for single plan). Terrible hours because it's a sales environment, so be prepared to work every weekend and nights (there are some day shifts). Management is disappointing, and they play favorites when it comes to job advancement opportunities. If you're not a "corporate" kind of person, it's difficult to advance in your career. Prepare to be micromanaged as well. Even if you're doing really well, management will ALWAYS find something to critique you on. You also must pass P&C licensing exam to keep job after hired. You're given 2 attempts to pass the test.

No job descriptors for jobs. The job you do does not matter. It all depends whether or not management likes you! Every day I wish I had not spent almost 25 years at this company. This place is toxic. Poor team leaders and management with lack of communication skills. Poor employee morale. Some employees have ZERO respect for other employees and they do not care! If a fellow employee treats you unfairly never ever report anything to HR they will twist it and treat you like you are in the wrong. This place makes me sick!

Overall my experience gas been just ok. I got covid towards the end of my sales training and paid me administrative leave which was very unexpected but appreciated! The only bad thing is that the departments, especially sales, change so much that leadership holds you to a standard that they haven't ever been held to when it comes to sales goals. It can be very frustrating to do your monthly check ins and they ask what you could've done different to make more sales. I cannot make their products more affordable or force people to qualify under their standards. I like the the benefits but would definitely recommend ANY department but sales.

Interview Questions

The interview was really easy and I was offered the job over the phone once the questions were done. For my interview they only asked a few questions of telling them about myself, a time I handled a difficult customer, if I had experience using multiple monitors at once. They basically ask situational questions and want to see how much you prepared for the interview. Best advice is write out some situational questions such as difficult customers, handling stress, things like that and have your answers in that STAR format SF loves. Situation Task Action Result They really don’t ask many questions the interview is all about getting a feel for you. How does your personality come off over the phone and the biggest things being did you prepare for the interview and how you answer the questions they ask. Just practice out loud a little so you don’t hesitate on the questions they ask you. I know it sounds silly but smile while talking to the recruiter because it really does make you sound extremely nice and friendly which is a big quality they look for.

The standard stuff, education, degrees, licenses, background in insurance the type of insurance you handled. What you can rate, understand and explain to the client or would be client.
